Plums Make You Prettier

Our parents always told us that fruits and veggies would make us healthy, but they never said that they could make us cuter! Researchers are saying that eating more fruits and vegetables will improve your appearance in just two months. A study conducted at St. Andrews and Bristol universities in the U.K. found that people who had a golden skin tone were considered more attractive by their peers. They attribute the coloring to carotenoids, which are found in numerous fruits and vegetables, including plums and carrots. I wonder if this means that the produce section will soon become the new singles scene …

Don’t go overboard with the carrots, however… a healthy glow and those natural vitamins should certainly help foster healthy skin and hair and enhance physical well-being and mood. BUT you can have too much of a good thing, too much water, for example, can devastate the natural balance and proper functions of the body. Dana Plato, a young actress in the 1980s, provides an example of carrot overdose. Too much carotenoids can cause not a golden glow, but a sickly orange pall to the complexion. By all means, eat a healthy diet, especially full of vegetables and fruits… but don’t go overboard hoping to get prettier. Balance matters.

Hmm… I eat a diet with all four food groups, and I look younger than my vegetarian comrades. Seems the balanced diet is best.
