PETA’s Plan to Save Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty

As a lifelong Hello Kitty fan, I nearly fell off my chair when I heard that Sanrio is looking for a new character to replace Kitty, who hasn’t been a hot seller lately. Um, hello? Sanrio, have you heard that there is a recession going on? It’s not Kitty’s fault.

Luckily, PETA is proposing a plan to save the world’s cutest cat and real kitties: a new ad campaign and merchandise line starring Hello Kitty featuring the message “Hello Kitty, Goodbye Animal Homelessness. Please Spay or Neuter.” No doubt, compassionate connoisseurs of cuteness would snatch up HK spay-and-neuter stuff in a nanosecond.

Let’s hope Sanrio takes us up on our offer. In the meantime, you can bring the issue of spaying and neutering to the forefront with a “Spay Today, Save a Life Tomorrow” mug. As sad as a world with no Hello Kitty would be, a world in which millions of real kitties are suffering on the streets and are euthanized for lack of a good home is a sad reality that we can easily fix with just one SNIP.

it was very hard to watch them beating them on the head then to walk away when they are still twitching

WOAH. They can’t take away Hello Kitty! She’s my favorite! The stuff they sell for her is adorable! I used to buy her stuff al the time!

  • Chloe says:

Awwww I really love Hello Kitty! I don’t want to see it burn down. A lot of kids still love Hello Kitty! Also alot of kids would be ridiculously happy with a shelter animal! So please adopt and a shelter dog!

  • Annie says:

I agree with PETA! Does Sanrio not realize that the only reason why Hello Kitty might not be popular at the moment is because there is a recession and it is not Hello Kitty’s fault?

  • Miranda says:

Why would they even DO THAT?! I mean Hello Kittys been ’round like for a LONG TIME and now they just so suddenly wanna stop it? Hello Kitty is like a tradition and I know a lot of my lil’ cousins and nieces that have a Bday party and the themes most likly Hello Kitty. They can’t just ALL OF A SUDDENLY DO THAT its just not right! This coming from a 12year old

Sanrio has done this before sometime in the early 90s. Kitty will be back don’t worry! However I would def. purchase PETAHK merchandise!

  • Missy says:

I grew up with hello kitty!! I still have LOTS of her stuff!! My daughter even loves hello kitty!!!

  • Erin says:

I can’t believe they called Spottie Dottie a flop! She was around for like 10 years and I’m STILL collecting all of the items they made of her. I think Charmmy Kitty Kuromi and CinnamorollCinnamoangels have huge potential. But I do like PETA’s idea I would totally collect spayneuter Hello Kitty merch.

Sanrio can you hold off for say 18 months? My niece is trying to get pregnant with her second child and if she has a girl my niece will buy her enough Hello Kitty to save your company 3 times over. Her first child being a boy is now supporting Thomas The Tank Engine and Handy Manny.

Hello Kitty Rules!…. She is and always be unique and simply the best!…
