PETA’s Colorful Display at the White House Is a Hit with Lobbyists, Horses (Photos)

How do you catch a lobbyist? Just veg out in front of the White House.

PETA celebrated National “Eat Your Vegetables” Day with a display that the POTUS and the FLOTUS were likely big fans of: We piled the White House sidewalk high with fresh veggies that spelled out, “Try Vegan.”

We were there to encourage people to “strive for five,” and everyone was happy to take five to talk with us, shoot funny pictures with our veggie visual, and grab a vegetarian/vegan starter kit and a copy of Paul McCartney’s meat industry exposé, “Glass Walls.”

And one D.C. lobbyist decided to start eating healthier on the spot:

Visitors of all ages got into the fun demonstration—and so did visitors of different species. When three friendly mounted patrol officers rode by, their horses couldn’t take their eyes off our props.

We asked if we could feed them, and when the officers agreed, the horses quickly demonstrated for everyone just how easy it is to get five servings of veggies a day.
