PETA to the Rescue of Abandoned Puppy

Written by PETA | August 1, 2012

After residents complained about a smell coming from a neighboring apartment, the building’s management company left several notices and tried to contact the tenant. But after getting no response, company staffers entered the apartment, where they found this abandoned puppy, less than 5 months old, who had been left tied to a radiator. So they contacted PETA.

PETA’s caseworker quickly contacted local animal control officials and asked them to pick up the dog right away. The poor pup was in good condition, but her tether was very short. She was surrounded by her own waste and had no food or water. The puppy was brought to a local animal shelter, where she was given veterinary care and was spayed. Now she’s been adopted by a loving family, who will never leave her behind—and in return, she’ll give them her whole heart.

So that’s the happy ending, and here’s the moral of the story: This puppy could have easily starved to death if apartment management hadn’t helped by contacting PETA. If you ever find an animal in need, speak up.

I don’t understand how people don’t read articles and comprehend. 1. the dog is a SHE 2. it was adopted by a loving family, not euthanized. Really? it was such a short article and made points about the above 2 facts. Either way, I’m so very glad SHE was found and is now in a loving home. Dogs are amazing friends to have; it’s heartbreaking to hear of these stories which happen all too often 🙁

  • Patrizia says:

Can we get update on the pup and see how he’s doing?PLEASE??

  • MN12 says:

Where is the puppy now? Is he being fostered? Was he adopted out? Did PETA euthanize him because there are too many pit bulls in the world?

  • Jakartarose says:

Thank you PETA and the manager for coming to the rescue to save this poor innocent little guy. I am so happy he has a forever home now. May he have a long and happy life that he deserves. There should be stricter laws for abandoning pets. Pets are not disposable objects. What is wrong with the human race? Sometimes I am so ashamed to be a part of it.

  • Patrizia says:

Please post pictures of the puppy with the new family!! 🙂

This dog has suffered through no fault of his own,in the hands of a cold hearted disfuctional human being. Yet he has trusted another with so much gratitude and love. I dont know a single person that would do that for another dog if they were emotionally scarred by one. This dog is a true gentelman.

  • KYL says:

It breaks my heart when ppl are NOT treating animal kindly… they are helpless with good ppl taking care of them… thanks PETA and whoever report and adopt that puppy!

  • rhobere says:

all this talk about the dog, but what happened to the owners? if the dog was tethered without food or water, doesn’t that imply that the person intended to come home at least within a reasonable amount of time? and if so, why didn’t this caseworker file a missing persons report instead of going on raving about their saving a puppy and simultaneously condeming someone that’s probably laying under a bridge with a knife wound, slowly bleeding to death?

  • Natasha says:

I really would like to know what happened to the previous owners. I think there should be some kind of fines for tremendous cruelty they have shown to this lovely dog.

  • Jake says:

Whoever abandoned this pup should never be allowed near an animal again. So happy that someone contacted PETA so he was saved and is in a good home now. Thank you, PETA.

  • Rory56 says:

Thank you, PETA! We must never ignore an animal in need of help.

  • Cassandra says:

The street down from mine, someone moved out and left two cats to starve to death. When I walked my dog past the house, she would pull at the leash & go crazy. If I had listened to her instincts & investigated, I might have done something. It haunts me. They were found dead by the next person to move in.

  • Anne Hageman-Kieselhorst says:

Interesting…they reported a smell, didn’t it bark or whine?

  • Icequeen81 says:

Im glad he found a home 🙂

  • Rachida says:

I’m happy this one is rescued, i know one who was found in the same circonstances but this poor dog was too long whithout food and water, when found somebody would help the dog and gave too much food and the dog died, if one find a dog in very bad condition give only some water and go to an vetinaire instandly!

  • Rosewood says:

Isn’t that food near the radiator in the bowl?

  • Rosewood says:

I will never understand how and why someone could or would hurt an animal they are so cute and loving, why did they adopt her anyway, curious.

  • Rita says:

I hope PETA found who the people are that abandoned this poor pup. I’m only glad that the dog found a home.

  • BobJonah says:

The landlord should have the name of the person who did this.

  • Patricia Riggleman says:

I am happy a neighbor found out about this cute puppy, but should someone have notice that the house was empty and did they know a puppy could have been left behind?
