PETA Pig on the Campaign Trail in S.C.

Written by PETA | January 25, 2008

You hear politicians and journalists complain all the time about how grueling it is to follow the campaign trail, but none of those guys ever had to do it in a pink pig costume (to my knowledge). So I want to take a moment to recognize my colleague Ashley Byrne and the brave PETA interns Chris Arellano and Lacey Knox who have been showing up at campaign stops around the country to drum up support for PETA’s call for an excise tax on meat. These pics from South Carolina—where the pigs were a big hit with democrats and republicans alike—are pretty damn adorable.

Good luck on getting that to happen! “Some motherfers are always trying to iceskate uphill!” I had to quote the movie ‘Blade’ it seemed fitting!

Forget taxes how about just dropping the taxpayer subsidies? That would drive the price of flesh eggs and dairy through the roof!

I sensed alot of sarcasm in Ashes post! Why should I pay more for meat? Why shuoldn’t you pay more for your veggies? I am 100 against this little ploy! If you try to tax America’s meatyou will have a fight you can’t win on your hands. You might want to put your effort elsewhere!

  • Ashes says:

Nice to see that you’re putting your resources and employees’ time to good use. A tax on meat will surely happen very soon! I’m sure anyone in Congress would be thrilled to sponsor such a bill and would never face any backlash from the majority of their constituents. A federal meat tax is a totally realistic goal!

Mike I just wish more people would stop and really think about what they are doing to animals when they read stories like that one. Maybe they just think it’s “cute” or maybe they don’t even want to know about it…
