Meth-Addled Sheep Shocked With Tasers

Can’t sheep get a break?

First, we told you that PETA and Madison, Wisconsin’s Alliance for Animals petitioned for prosecution after experimenters at the University of Wisconsin–Madison killed sheep in excruciating U.S. Navy–funded decompression experiments. (Killing animals by decompression is specifically prohibited by Wisconsin’s Crimes Against Animals law.)

Now we’ve learned that 16 sheep were restrained, injected with methamphetamines, shocked with a Taser device for up to 40 seconds and killed in cruel and ineffective experiments aimed at studying how being shocked with a Taser affects the hearts of meth addicts who run from the cops. These ridiculous Taser-funded experiments were conducted at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis by Taser medical director Jeffrey Ho and others. Of course, sheep don’t do drugs or resist arrest, and they shouldn’t be made to suffer because some humans do. To boot, medical experts, the authors of this sheep study, and others have concluded that data obtained from using Tasers on drugged-up animals (including pigs on cocaine!) are not relevant to humans.

These twisted folks may have violated federal animal protection laws, so PETA has fired off a complaint to the U.S. Department of Agriculture calling for an immediate investigation. We’ll keep you posted as the case unfolds.

In the meantime, here’s how you can take action against cruel animal experiments.

Why is it fair to test on animals instead of people? I am with those who suggest using actual HUMAN meth addicts and how about convicted criminals for any kind of testing. Leave the innocent animals out of it!

  • ocean17 says:

these researchers have no soul and this isn’t bona fide research just mind numbingly dull and archaic junkscience in disguise. somethings never change.

  • Andrea says:

This is terrible!!! Stop killing the poor sheeps!! And to Cait This is no laughing matter. How would you feel if someone injected you with meth and shocked you with a taser until you died? Best of luck PETA.

  • @Melissa says:

Because the life of 1 human is way way way more valuable than the life of 16 sheep.

  • Max says:

    Hah. This made me laugh.

  • cait says:

i agree that animals shouldnt be killed or mistreated but i know a lot of “peta supporters” that are prochoice. What a contradiction! How can you stand up for the lives of innocent animals but not for the lives of innocent human beings! by 14 weeks gestation a human fetus can feel twice as much pain as a newborn baby. They feel their heads being squeezed to death during the abortion. Lets spread petas message but lets stand up for all life!

I am vegan and I have been against animal abuse since I knew what it was. However I once was addicted to meth among other drugs. I am lucky to have made it out of that alive and it makes me even more disgusted I think than someone who has never done this drug. Meth SERIOUSLY screws you up how the hell a “human” being could ever do something like this to an ANIMAL is totally beyond me. GO PETA!!!

  • Cheryl says:

To lauren K I agree….a few episodes of cops which are continually researched by professionals would be scientific enough. Where would animals get cocaine and Meth? and where are the scientists getting the stuff? makes you ponder and wonder……conspiracy theory…..

  • Leeta Cornish says:

There has to come a time and it must be soon when we humans are held accountable for the brutality we inflict on all the other living creatures on this earth. When will it end? I despair.

  • Joe says:

When they ate the lamb meat did they stay up for days at a time? Get over it.

  • maria says:

all this make me sick . i fill like trow up to vomit leave the animals alone LEAVE THE ANIMALS ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE

  • Debra Dephillips says:

This is so sick. I agree I think every police district in America has tazer guns and I am SURE they have been used on meth users WE know what happens! So this experiment is for what?

  • Allie says:

This is just ridiculous I would really hate to meet the people who devise these experiments the have to be pretty twisted to come up with half the things animals have to go through. Allie

  • Rich Feit says:

I think we now know what happened to Dr. Mengele

  • Vicky says:

Just taser the real subject and see how they react. It is not as though this needs any experience by torcher to unexpecting animals. What barbaric ways will they think of next and they went to college for this.

  • Charlotte says:

please stop killing poor sheeps people are so mean !!!

  • seth says:

    This is rediculous

  • romano.sara says:

This is completely out of order. The fact that these poor sheep have nothing whatsoever in common with our anatamony and are subected to such a sick and disgraceful death they should taser the ones in charge of this sick facility.

  • Kelley says:

Can’t these “researchers” just watch a few episodes of “Cops” to see what meth and cocaine users do when tasered by law enforcement officers???

  • Lauren K. says:

How the hell does getting sheep high and torturing them with a taser even come close to science like at all? How is this even relevant to finding out how a taser affects a druggie? Sounds like a bunch of psychopaths torturing animals for their sick amusement.

  • Brien Comerford says:

The only means to help humans is to perform research and tests on fellow humans. People who torure animals as an ineffectual way to “help” humans are criminals.

  • Melissa says:

AHHH!! This sort of thing makes me so mad. It may affect meth addicts differently but on HUMANS! Why do people insist on testing everything on animals first…are they more “expendable” to you sick individuals? Why do you need to test it on a sheep. Go find a meth addict and test it on them.
