Mayhem at the Christian Lacroix Fashion Show

Written by PETA | February 28, 2007

Attendees of the invitation-only Christian Lacroix show at Paris Fashion week this afternoon discovered that “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” is a whole lot more than just a catchy slogan when a PETA Europe supporter removed all her clothes, evaded security, and rushed onto the catwalk with an anti-fur banner. Here’s what astonished onlookers saw at the event:

Another protester, this time at the Valentino show, didn’t quite make it onto the catwalk. You can click here to check out the NSFW picture of how that went, but before you do (I swear to you I’m not kidding about this), our legal department is making me ask you to check very carefully to make sure both that you’re 18 years old and that publishing or viewing nude photos is legal where you live. If neither of those things is true, don’t come crying to me when the police knock down your door and drag you away from your computer.

By way of a bit of editorial, this kind of tactic always seems to raise a lot of healthy debate, and I’ve heard good points made on both sides of the issue. Nonetheless, I have yet to hear a good argument made defending the actions of designers like Lacroix and Valentino, who directly fund people who skin, bludgeon, strangle, and electrocute animals for a living. For more information on that, click here. I don’t know if I’d ever be able to do what these two activists did in Paris today, but I’m certain that I’d rather go naked than wear fur. If it ever does come to that point, though, I really hope that I’ll be allowed to do it in the comfort of my own home.

Eric if I ever meet you you’d better start running ’cause I’ll hunt you down! See if you like to be the hunted animal for a change!? Alison thank you for speaking out so strong in favour of the many innocent animals. I wish more people were like you. Thank you!Perrault Ans Belgium.

  • Alison Hoye says:

Earth to Eric! 1 Our collective heritage is the slave trade too. Are you proposing that we should continue it just because it was part of our past? Hello!! 2 Most veggies aren’t hippies just awake caring individuals who can see past their tastebuds. Anyway hippy is not a swear word ‘hunter’ is though. 3 Not surprised you can’t find a job with an ‘if it moves kill it’ attitude matey! 4 The idea that you are the protector and preserver of our wildlife is such a joke that I just fell off my chair and spilt my coffee!! Are you an undercover stand up comedian by any chance? 5 And finally …. Nobody cares whether you respect them or not! You seem to respect nothing!!

Peta has always successfully strived to get the attention of the public towards the unbelievable cruelty meted out to animals. Its sad and sardonic though that despite the unspeakable cruelty that takes place behind doors towards animals in fur trade some hardhearted morons actually keep wearing it. All these so called designers need to go out and get a real job. Since when did trapping a creature ripping off its skin when its still alive and selling it cheekily ever amount to that of a job? Kudos to all the supporters and demonstrators of Peta who protest against these sick senseless shows. Its high time these shows be banned by the government and not made legal ever. Caroline

i think that your hippie vegitarianisum has got to go i live in michigan and hunt fish and trap with my family its an important part of my heritage. And provides potential income for me because finding work for a teen in michigan is not easy. fur harvest have been proven to help animal populations because if there to many dideses spread and kill all the other animals i have very little respect for you inner city hippies who have no idea how wildlife accually works and that man has an importaint role in preserveing nature.

  • Bernie Laprade says:

Well done to the PETA ladies! And this is one reason why they do it Caught In A Trap I gnaw and gnaw it’s really sore I guess that that’s because it’s raw I’ve got to do it now you see The clubbing will begin at three They want my coat it’s really nice It keeps me warm but what a price I’d give it up if I could find The zipper clip or velcro bind Instead I’ve got to lose my leg And walk on three legs and a peg The worst part is I’ve got to bite My leg off now or die tonight!! Bernie Laprade Keep up the great work!

Well done girls !!!! Utmost respect. Let people know how these innocent creatures suffer and die.

Hi. I’m actually the gal who made it onto the runway at the Lacroix show and I too almost made it onto the runway at the Valentino show along with another gal actiivist. To clarify my friend did have a banner written in French she is French and I had mine in English. We were covering all bases. Thanks! So happy to help the animals in this way!

  • julie fabret says:

c’est gnial! i’m always astonished about the amazing courage of some animal activists! chapeau!

  • Joe says:

Can someone explain why PETA while protesting in France uses an English sign instead of French words? I know that worldwide people speak more English but the French want to see French. And since the show was in Paris I feel that it should have been in French. You know the average French person is thinking “….those stupid Americans”.

Christian Lacroix long ago ran out of any creative juice for his lines Funny how when they falter they reach for the boring old fur
