Lotto Money Goes to the Goats

Written by PETA | May 14, 2010

No ifs, ands, or head butts—Bucky is one lucky goat. A California couple won $2 million from a scratch lottery ticket, and they plan to spend it to upgrade their animal sanctuary. They credit Bucky, the first animal they ever rescued, for their good fortune. Their decision means big bucks for Bucky and his buds (who include horses, chickens, and other goats). I’m guessing that Bucky will blow the money on kids, chicks, and a pimped-out pen.

How would you spend the money if you won the lottery? Leave us a comment and let us know. While you’re dreaming of all that dough, be sure to watch the video of Bucky and the rest of the brood. Spoiler alert: One of the goats tries to eat the oversized check.

I would open fast food restaurants with vegan food only and help P.E.T.A. and live on a farm with rescued animals to love always helping steer people to a vegan lifestyle.

Holy shift brick since when did you put peta in front of yourself??? Donate 50 to PETA? WHY???? that most you’ll get back is a thank you and that’ll be it. you’ll regret it when you need that extra cash you may have a good heart but that isn’t worth much. Do the right thing invest it and work for it’s growth then donate what you can spare after you’ve secured your own wealth.

1st IMOGiving 10 to a church is ridiculous to say the least. 2nd LOVE the “Bob Barker Bill” idea nice one. 3rd This is in no way anything close to a zoo. Going by that theory anyone who has a cat or a dog is also running a zoo right? These goats have been saved from a horrible fate they have now become family pets and have people who would do anything for them and guess what they love the family as well. To say anything negative in any way is ignorance in it’s finest. Instead of finding any little thing you can to bch about go make yourself useful somewhere. Peta thanks for writing this

I would get out of the city buy a piece of land and start my own animal rescue sanctuary.

I wouldnt give the church one cent. Use the money as you see fit. This couple is using it for the animals thats thier right and should not be critized by someone who believes in religion.

I would start a foundation similar to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that would give the money to all animal organizations including PETA that work so tirelessly helping animals.

i will totally adopt and bring up all the animals on Indian streets.. Its such a sad plight to go through it everyday and see them hungry .. starved and need to be loved .. and yes … lots of ppl who are on the road to help me to look after them ….

Um… not sure why you’re praising an animal sanctuary when they’re basically a large version of a zoo. That said I’d spend my money helping ones like this and zoos expand so the animals are comfortable. I wouldn’t give a dime to any one who doesn’t help the animals more than themselves…

If I won the lotto you can count on my giving it to the animal rescue angels for transport vehicles sanctuary lands food medical care and more and gladly!!! Keep your fingers and toes crossed just in case!!! LOL…

I’ll give some to the animal shelter and PETA

  • Patty says:

After all the bills were paid off I would cut down on days I work so I would have time to volunteer somewhere that helps animals. I would either fix up my property or buy more land to take in as many homelessabused animals as I could. I would also make regular donations to animal welfare organizations and shelters.

  • Aleksis says:

FINALLY a person with moral character and class wins the lotto…it’s about time!

  • brenda cruz says:

If god ever gave me the chance to win the lottery I would help myself mom stepdad all the strays that I encounter in my life abusive children but most important I would help peta and all the animals that I can help that are in abusive or starving situations xoxo

I’d love to be able to buy a farm and adoptrescue a whole bunch of animals to live on the farm with my family and I dogs cats chickens cows pigs horses…you name it. Kind of like the sanctuary in the article.

  • Tracy Hambrick says:

Fund a bill that would make spaying and neutering mandatory. I would call it the Bob Barker Bill.

  • Cassie says:

I would donate 50 to PETA or another Factory Farming activist group with a promise to spend it on educating and saving the animals who suffer in the Factory Farms the rest would go to updating the family farm to enclose animals we would rescue from a farm shelter pay off 50 G’s in student loans and the rest would be left to saving in case hard ship comes so the rescued animals are alright. After everything is handled if there is left over I am not much for budgets I would for sure donate the extra to kill shelters in my area specifically for vet care.

I have always wanted someone who cares for animals like I do ask me this questions.I would keep half of the money and donate the other half to cosponsor a new animal sanctuary for abused animals. I also would send a check to AAF which is doing an amazing job at saving the moon bears from one of the most cruel tortures and deprivation inflicted on an animal. When I watched their videos I have cried for days and I am still horrified by what I saw. I wanted to turn it off after 3 seconds like I did for all PETA videos of abuse but I didnt I watch them all to end suffering great pain in my heart because I feel I owe them that much. We all compassionate caring people do. PETA please help share some info about our brother bears in Asia.

  • Candice Payne says:

That’s what I want to do if or when I come into or win a lot of money! Is to upgrade my animals living areas! Great to know there are other people like that out there!

  • Rev. Meg Schramm says:

Being a Christian who believes in tithing 10 of whatever amount I won would go to our local church and it’s programs. A sizable chunk would go to help our extended family most of whom really need help right now another sizable chunk would go to PETA and what was left would go to improving our home which would help our own animals since they would get better living conditions. Not that they are bad but there is room for improvement.
