Human Remains Found in Meat Wrappers

Written by PETA | August 9, 2010

Meat is murder, and disturbing new facts released last week about the case of convicted British Columbia pig farmer turned serial killer Robert Pickton show just how dead-on the saying is.

The Province reports, “In Pickton’s freezer were eight packages of meat both chunked and ground, some wrapped in plastic, some in butcher’s paper. These were the last remains of Inga Hall and Cindy Dawn Feliks.” The provincial health officer also warned in 2004 that the remains of some of Pickton’s victims may have been mixed in with pig flesh sold from his farm.

It should go without saying that no one—whether they have two legs or four—deserves to be tortured, killed, cut up, and eaten, and that’s why PETA ran this billboard in Edmonton after the murders:

So … who are you having for dinner? I think I’ll stick to food that didn’t have a face.

I don’t see the problem. Meat is meat. Human animal it’s all the same. Just come near me with a cleaver or I’ll eat you first!

  • karla Demas says:

thank God that I’ve been a vegetarian for 16 years. The world would be a better place if we all were vegetarians. Cruelty is the only word that I can say about about meat eaters.

  • Millie says:

Of course I hugely disagree with those poor girls being murdered but eating a human is the same as eating other species… so why do humans make a huge fuss about our kind being eaten when other species are being slaughtered and eaten every second? MEAT IS MURDER Good work PETA D

Well it is said that people taste like pork and that at one time when encountering natives of a new land explorers offered ‘long pork’ were actually eating people. Cannibalization is more common in the natural world than most people want to think about. Human morality prevents cannibalism outside the most extreme circumstances.

Poor girls and the pigs sigh.. The pig in this photo looks so adorable!! And she looked innocent. Great thing I am already a vegn.

Mellie I totally agree with you. Our school systems support dissection it’s wrong! So this year I convinced the administration to let me take an online biology course with a dry lab. I also wrote to our governor about classroom dissection however I am still waiting for a response from three months ago.

I’m Canadian and Pickton’s our countries worst murderer. I’m not a speciest though so I don’t find this news horrifying. Meat is meat and humans are animals too.

  • Katherine says:

PLEASE remember that the “meat” was never sold commercially. Not that it makes a difference.. really. I live in the area of the Pig Farm.. crazy crazy… watching it all unfold…

Another if rare excuse the pun reason to be veggie vegan. In response to saying no to eating anything with a face my friends in good jest came up with the idea that eating face shaped potatoes very popular in the UK was a no no for as well as some candy which had faces drawn on them. My response in the nature of always finding a simple logical solution a new phrase “if when it is alive ss solids then i aint eating it”. The aforementioned friends are yet to come back with a response.

  • douglas says:

whats funny is that meat eaters would find this horrific. what is sad is that there is no difference between eating an “animal” and eating a human except the nebulous manmade laws. Weird how words make bad things ok.

I really like the advertisement above. It gets the message across pulls at your heartstrings and is ADORABLE without being too provocative and gross.

  • Heather says:

This headline is so shocking and perverted. I think the phrase “I’ll stick to food that didn’t have a face” makes my vegan decision so easy.

  • Emily says:

I would just like to say… how effing cute is that pig?! This article makes me feel ill though. But as long as it puts people off eating meat then I can’t complain!

  • Julie says:

A friend of mine that worked in a meat packing place killed himself. He was young it isn’t a good thing!

  • Steph says:

I think that is absolutley disgusting!!!! and frightening! Not only do people who eat meat expose themselves to disese infested flesh but now the thought of having human flesh in the mix! This is why we need to spread the word of vegetarianism and veganism. It also shows how killing animals can lead to killing humans. It is something that cant go ignored and everyone needs to speak up! This is so important. Cant believe I just read this. If this doesnt turn your stomach and make you vegetarian I dont know what else will!
