So a Guy Walks Into a Fur Salon …

Written by PETA | December 13, 2010

What happens when an animal rights activist armed with a video camera goes into fur salons and tells the employees that animals are sometimes skinned alive for their fur? Watch this video to find out.

For the impatient among you, fast-forward to 5:20 to see the, ahem, fur really start to fly.

If you haven’t already done so, post a link to PETA’s Chinese fur farm investigation footage (the impetus for the fur salon ambush) on your Facebook page. ‘Tis the season for giving people a reason to scratch fur off their Christmas lists.

I think the idea of this experiment was good, but it could’ve been done more effectively. The experimenter was a bit too confrontational, back off a little and make it a discussion, then bring up the shocking facts once you get them talking. Fur is murder, <> check it out.

  • Mari says:

I would love to do that experiment and when the employees tell me “I’m gonna call the police” I’ll reply “I am the police”. That guy that said “I’m gonna ruin your holiday” is a complete asshole cause he didn’t make sense at all.

  • Barbara Wilson says:

See how they run when confronted with the truth. Keep up the good work, PETA.

  • Veggie_Chick221 says:

Wow, I officially love this guy. It takes guts and a heart to do what he did and not back down when threatened. All those employees know the truth, they just don’t want to face it because they know it’s wrong…or because they just don’t care and all they do care about it making money on behalf of the suffering of millions of animals. Awesome video, and it WILL make a difference.

Many people are afraid of change. They keep doing things the way they have always been done because that is what they know. This is what amazes me though: how easily we embrace technology such as pcs, ipods, Kindles, and e-mail but when it comes to food and clothing most of us are still in the stone age…

  • nancy says:

Thank you for doing this. You were really patient and composed.

  • liz says:

People get mad, defensive, and sometimes react violently when they can’t handle hearing the truth and don’t want to be accountable for anything. Instead, they would rather ignore it, very sad..

  • geej0e says:

WOW, she actually called the police. Guilty as charged.

  • raquelwdc says:

Wow, this guy is awesome! I loved his calm demeanor. I have a lot of admiration for what he did and how he did it.

  • Katie says:

It takes one person to make a difference! That man in the end knows nothing. all he cares about is money! anyone who has anything to do with fur is selfish and only think of themselves. And thats a sad thing to think about. But Karma will get them. We will eventually win! and animals are going to live a free life! And it all starts with one caring person to go out and do things most people wouldn’t!

  • Curiosity says:

Thanks for making this video so people can see what the fur trade is trying to hide. What a strange world we live in as telling the truth is all of a sudden a crime. But i guess that’s the influence of big nasty money who can turn anything with the proper backing into the truth even if it is a lie.

This video hit close to my heart because I live in Palm Beach and the Bloomingdales at Towncenter in Boca is one of my favorite places to shop.Stop all the animal abuse!!

  • Natalia Sayanskaya says:

will post and share it everywhere.. they just think they dont have the choice.. they get paid and have to feed their kids, like there’s no any other way.. we all know there is a way – of an amazing life without killing anyone.. we should offer a choice also while aware! if they go deeper – they will have the compassion for animals and they are afraid of it, a lot cuz how they gonna be paid if they stop it and go against it? lets keep aware with no aggression but with Love, we’ll make it, we’re getting there, no worries!

  • disnaplay says:

It’s crazy to see how people get mad on someone telling the truth nowadays… just wondering when speaking out truth becomes a crime…

  • Alli says:

I’m glad that this young man was sent into these places! I hope a lot of people see this video and see what animals are put through just so some of these people can look fashionable. I’d rather go naked than wear fur.
