Giant Rat Drives Anti-Lowe’s Van

Written by PETA | October 10, 2008

Though we can all agree that neglecting to feed an animal companion is pretty low, what about knowingly starving or denying an animal water until he or she dies? Well, that’s what glue traps do, which is why selling them makes Lowe’s the lowest of the low.

We’ve sent out one of our custom campaign vans to visit Lowe’s stores in North Carolina, to remind shoppers of what, exactly, the glue traps that Lowe’s sells inevitably do—cause immense suffering and ensure a slow death to whatever animal is unlucky enough to touch one.

Check out the photos from our demo (and just imagine what you’d think if you passed this van with our mouse friend here in the driver’s seat … yeah, we’re good at grabbing attention):

Unlike other major retailers, such as Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Albertsons, and Safeway, Lowe’s has refused to drop these deadly devices from its inventory. Join Ms. Giant Rat in encouraging Lowe’s to change its cruel policy.

I disagree. It is not the stores fault it is the buyers fault for buying one. I guess you really want mice to take over ones home and eat all their food. What is wrong with this picture????

  • Tyler says:

I have a pet rat and to think that these marvelous creatures starve to death while glued to a piece of wood is disgusting!

  • Valerie says:

I was not aware of this Lowes glue trap issue. We will not be shopping there anymore and I just filled out the email to them. I will personally call their customer service and tell them we are boycotting them. What an attention getting van and a such a cute mouse.

To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal but thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it he would be thought ridiculous and THAT is the unpardonable crime. In their behavior toward creatures all men are Nazis. Human beings see oppression vividly when they’re the victims otherwise they victimize blindly and without a thought. The SOUL is the same in ALL living creatures although the body of EACH is different. Nonviolence leads to the HIGHEST ethics which IS the goal of ALL evolution. Until we stop harming ALL OTHER living beings we are STILL savages and as long as there are slaughterhouses there WILL BE battlefields. God Bless The Beasts PEACE LOVE TRUTH
