Gay Makeout Tour!

Fearless PETA members Mike Brazell and Jonathan Frank made a provocative statement yesterday in front of the State House in Concord to advocate for gay rights and vegetarianism at the same time. Mike and Jon chose New Hampshire to celebrate the fact that it has recently become the fourth state to authorize civil unions for gay couples. They also brought a big banner with them that read “Vegetarians Make Better Lovers,” and then proceeded to prove it for the benefit of a large crowd of onlookers. In between makeout sessions, the dudes had plenty of leaflets with information about the way animals are treated on factory farms just in case anyone who was having a bit too much of a good time at the demonstration.

There was a fantastic article about the event in the Concord Monitor this morning (evidently the good people of Concord were exceptionally good natured about the whole thing), and, just so I don’t leave anyone wanting more, here’s a great video from last year’s tour. This one also features Mike. With a different guy. Hell, nobody’s claiming that vegetarians make loyal lovers.

Animal Liberation! Human Liberation! Queer Liberation!

  • anonymous says:

PETA are a bunch of idiots. I eat meat it tastes good and it’s healthy for you. I wear black leather shoes to school I have a pet goldfish and my father experiments on rats for brain research which has enhanced our own understanding of the brain. Homosexuality has nothing to do with animal rights and I am surprised PETA would boast this immodest socially unacceptable display by these two men.

INNA THERE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLES AND THIS IS AMERICA YOU CAN HAVE AN OPINION BUT SO CAN OTHER PEOPLEWE SO CALLED LIBERALS ARE NOT TELLING YOU HOW TO LIVE BUT TRY TO UNDER STAND HOW OTHER PEOPLE LIVE EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO THEIR OPINION BUT STOP BASHING PEOPLE WHOSE OPINION DIFFERS FROM YOURS AND ULTIMATELY THE MESSAGE HERE WAS WHETHER YOU ARE STRAIGHT OR GAY ANIMALS HAVE RIGHTS AND THEY ARE BEING ABUSED TERRORIZED AND MUTILATED FOR NO GOOD REASON. IF THESE TWO MEN WERE TRYING TO GET THE MESSAGE THROUGH TO THEIR GAY COMMUNITY GOOD FOR THEMYOU ARE DEFINITELY NARROWMINDED BUT I DO HOPE YOU WILL HELP FIGHT THE CAUSES OF PETA. THANK YOU. so having a different opinion than eveybody else on this page makes one narrow minded?? I am really sick and tired of the gays and liberals making their opinions “the truth” and the people who happen to disagree with it “narrow minded”!!! get a grip and realize that in the beginning it was male and female and their was no alternative lifestyles to make all the generations who have come and gone before us..Wake up and go the doctor and get your heads checked!!!!

  • veggieguyisgay says:

“The internet is serious business.” um….. rotflol

  • sally omar says:

In response to Veggieguy and all the other homophobics you should be ashamed of your selfGod does not discrimate and neither should wethese were two great guys getting their message acrossnot only being proud of being gay but being proud of loving animals and being vegetarians God bless them. Veggieguyshame on you and your narrowminded ridiculous “Christian” attitude.

  • Damon says:

Somewhere buried in what Veggieguy had to say was a good point though I suspect it was accidental the issue is not whether being gay is right or wrong it’s that movements are often compromised by trying to address issues other than their primary purpose. It’s difficult enough for people who eat meat to be willing to listen to vegetarians even for an instant without asking them to at the same time set aside other issues they may be equally uncomfortable with. We can comment here over and over again about how these people SHOULD BE open to gay rights but if the reality is that they’re not then do we no longer want them to go veg? I for one would rather be successful with these people than to selfrighteously write them off altogether. We can support both of these issues without trying to argue them at the same time. Please let’s stay practical!!

  • The Minstrel says:

A Christian I was in truth and faith They blamed me to be a Vegetarian! And I had a lover full of grace But alas they were too Sectarian! They banished my love in ache and pain Painting the devil on the wall Nailing Christ into my brain Damned there I payed a bloody toll!

  • Door Knocker says:

Hey you ‘Christians’ stop it now! You make the people angry since early history! When I frequented a Charismatic Church they cursed the homosexuals and on every wedding party they boiled tons of meat. They also rallied against an unmarried woman who lived together with her man. The ‘Holy Gost spoke’ that she was a witch so I told them to let her in peace because she was a good woman. You know what the pastor answered me? ‘If you want to fly with her at night you are free to do so!’ Do you think this is normal? If they could they would not just boil chickens but continue to burn people at the stake as they did in Middle Age and never ever a leading person of any church made apologies for this matter uptil now! Don’t tell me now that I am the agressor and so on when I frequented a Catholic Church a priest told me that they did right in burning them because they were ‘bad people’. What’s this kind of bloody thing a religion or what!? And this is no exception after I frequented many other churches just for to have a look inside! And you ‘other Christians’ who shall react negatively on my statement you have to know They don’t accept you Christian Vegetarians and Others neither… If you don’t believe me go on a tour starting with the Mepkin Abbey!

  • Australian says:

Here here heather I agree!! I have recently gone vegetarian and I’m allmost a vegan! I believe that no animal should suffer in anyway. I think its just plain wrong that chickens should have their beaks cut and all that crap! And its plain wrong that people should discriminate against gay people exactly as you said! I deffinetly agree! I have friends and some family who are Christian and they don’t believe that gay people should be discriminated against and I second that! Personaly I’m straight but in saying that i know that if I was gay my fmaily would repect me just as they allways have. Heres for vegos and the gay community!! Oh and Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums around the world gay or straight for that matter!

  • Lucas Solowey says:

first of all the gay make out tour is fing hot. i want in on it. and yes gay vegetarians do make better lovers lol. anyway I think many animal rights people realize that there are many important issues in the world. One issue is not more important than another. I think it is great when we bring awareness to several issues through one event. Bigotry and oppression are unexceptable. there is an amazing poster that I love. that says Bigotry has many names sexismRacismHomophobia Speciesism help cross another one off the list go vegan

  • Heather says:

Great way to demonstrate your support of two important issues at once. Veggieguy you make it very clear that you don’t support gay rights. Well everyone is entitled to an opinion so here is mine you can’t truly support animal rights without supporting human rights as well. Yes gays are human and they are just as abused as animals if you think about it. We deny gays and animals both rights they deserve and treat them as if their lives are less worthy than ours. As far as being Christian…whatever happened to that Golden Rule hmm? Do unto others as they would do unto you? One final thing…if you’re willing to let one issue completely change your opinion of PETA you must not be a very strong supporter in the first place since your loyalties are have very shallow roots.

  • angelico says:

to veggieguy i appreciate so much that you are a veggie guy but i think that also veggie gays have a right here. i wrote before about this point concerning christian intolerance towards homosexual people. in all my life i never saw one of these gay people harm me or an animal and if there is a GOD watching over us he surely shall accept them in HIS abode in exactly the same way as all the rest of us. and besides this please know that there are many gay vegetarian celebrities like sir ian mckellen sir john gilgud etc. till now modern science ignores the reason of homosexuality. it exists also in the animal kingdom and we should not blame something we don’t know anything about it! i love these people and for me they are welcome! every animal protector is welcome because he or she has a good heart for other living beings! and did not Jesus say the most important is the love! i have spoken please consider!

  • bluebird says:

this is really courage and a great idea it would be nice to see gayveg sir ian mckellen in their midst…

  • Jesus Fucking Christ says:

So basically you’re a flaming internet troll? You must feel so good about yourself when you try to make someone feel bad on the interweb. Child psychology only works on children. The internet is serious business.

  • summer_flowers says:

“Not all veggetarians support this at all many are in fact Christian Vegetarians” not all christians are against gay marriage either. Please quit giving christians a bad name. just becasue you are christian does not mean you believe that homosexuality is wrong.

  • Amy says:

Mike was very well spoken. I think he did a great job explaining what happens to animals why it’s important what the meat industry hides…He spoke on really specific topics and had all the info. Also there is no problem with being gay and supporting animal rights. Christians are able to listen to him and understand what he has to say about animal rights and what happens with animals without having to agree with him about other issues. It would be pretty intolerant and foolish to disagree with everything someone has to say just because you strongly disagree with them about another topic.

  • Cuckoo4tofu says:

“Not all veggetarians support this at all many are in fact Christian Vegetarians and your promoting this stuff would give us all great considering over whether to support PETA or not in the future.” Hmm…Well PETA look on the bright side at least it won’t be a great loss.

  • veggieguyisgay says:

so basically you’re a flaming homophobe veggieguy? or is it veggiegay. snap.

  • Veggieguy says:

Absolutley commited to the veggies but let homosexuals fight their own battles and don’t include the rest of animal rights and veggie activists in with you absurd notions of queer family values. They are not the same issue or cause even at all. Not all veggetarians support this at all many are in fact Christian Vegetarians and your promoting this stuff would give us all great considering over whether to support PETA or not in the future.

  • John Carmody says:

This is a fantastic demo i think you guys are awesome!
