Free Spay-and-Neuter Coupons Return to Los Angeles

We were appalled when the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services terminated a crucial program that assists low-income residents by offering coupons for free spaying and neutering of their animal companions.

Thankfully, city officials woke right up after the tremendous outcry from local residents, and the city of Los Angeles is once again doing its part to curb the companion animal overpopulation crisis.

That’s a smart move, Los Angeles.

It must be really difficult to defend the elimination of a spay-and-neuter program when millions of homeless animals are running through the streets dodging cars, evading cruel humans, and enduring extreme weather conditions—let alone pumping out litter after litter of babies.

As anyone who works in the animal protection field knows, spay-and-neuter programs are essential for getting at the core of the animal overpopulation crisis. When 6 to 8 million homeless animals are dropped off at animal shelters every year, finding homes just isn’t good enough. The key is prevention—and spaying and neutering, my friends, is the answer.

That’s the way L.A. Good job Angelenos! Keep speaking out about the importance of spaying and neutering animals!

  • Pepsi One is Fun says:

Yeah while the majority of no kill shelters are probably evil the one near me fixes random feral cats for free and has volunteers walk its animals each day. So personally while there are alot of evil shelters I don’t see how you can assume that all are evil.

READ THE LA PAPERS! The failure of Mr No Kill Ed Boks has been documented for a long time including public meetings demanding his firing. Another trick of No Kill? They were turning animals away because of overcrowding and refusal to euthanize which then reproduced and made the problem even worse. Plus many were abandoned outside to suffer horrible deaths. This is also what Nathan Winograd the No Kill pusher now affiliated with breeders promotes with his No Kill. No Kill is doing so much damage to pets but the No Kill people want to keep bringing in donations by hiding the failures and pretending it works.

Wow Kelly that’s interesting. Do you have any references? I’m not challenging youI just want to learn more!

You know who ENDED the spay neuter program? The NO KILL head of animal services! who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year They are warehousing and abusing so many animals typical of No Kill that they are running out of money and all animals are suffering more. There are pets crammed into cages killing each other and disease killing them. They are giving pets out to hoarders who are killing them. No Kill is a Killer!! It is the worst fraud ever perpetuated on innocent animals by the con artists that sell No Kill to make a buck for themselves.
