Bunnies aux Barricades

Written by PETA | February 20, 2009

As all you fashionistas out there are probably aware (and everybody else probably isn’t), Giorgio Armani opened a boutique in New York City this week. Paris Hilton and Kanye West (the man who has an employee whose sole—pun intended—job is wrangling the rapper’s 400-and-some-odd shoes) were thrilled. Bunnies on fur farms? Not so much.

Of course, we couldn’t let Armani’s little shindig go off without a hitch, so we sent a veritable brigade of bunnies to fight for their liberté and egalité. As you’ll note in the photos below, they were an oddly cheerful bunch, even though they had to stand outside in the cold for upwards of four hours—until the last scrap of red carpet was rolled up. At that point, they lined up in formation and marched down the street waving their signs, followed by a contingent of photographers who must have thought they’d died and gone to Easter Bunny heaven.

I wonder—if 16 giant white bunnies show up on a Manhattan sidewalk, does that mean that spring is only a couple of weeks away …?

Good job guys! Never got the dead and tortutred animal wearing trend personally. Funny you see these people with fake nails hair boobs noses etc….BUT they have to have real dead animal to wear?

Cutest protest ever!!! As a rabbit lover I’m appalled that anyone is still using their fur let alone an already very successful designer. Is he going to go bankrupt if he stops using rabbit fur? Let’s hope he loses a lot of buyers due to Peta’s work against him.

Funny… It is 519 in the morning and I just sat down to write a letter to Armani’s VP of communications. But I noticed the term “bunny” in a blog topic and had to check it out being a bunny person bunnies are my favourite thing in the universe. I am so happy that PETA spoke up for the rabbits at the New York store opening. If I had a million dollars… I’d give it all to PETA.

This was what I call a Triple P… a Perfect Peta Protest!! Thought provoking and funny at the same time. By the way how is Anna Wintour lately?

  • Armani Hater says:

The work you guys do is so spectacular! As soon as I become old enoughI’m going to become a member of PETA!

  • Brien Comerford says:

The massacre of God’s creatures and sentient beings for fur is an unpardonable monstrosity. There is irrefutable evidence that crueltyfree fake fur can provide comfort and fashion for people in cold weather.

  • Michael says:

This is amazing work you guys are doing. Keep up the fight against Armani!

  • Lauren says:

Way to go guys!! Looking good! I hope the vile Armani comes to his senses and gets a bit of compassion into his black heart.
