More Than a Feeling: Boston Rocks for Animals

Written by Michelle Kretzer | December 2, 2013

It seems like everyone is a big fan of Boston—and Boston is a big fan of PETA. Not only did Tom Scholz found the renowned rock band, he’s also one of the original members of PETA.

Tom is a longtime vegetarian, as was band member Brad Delp, and the band’s liner notes have frequently encouraged fans to go vegetarian, avoid animal products, report cruelty to animals, and support other animal rights issues. So it’s no surprise that as the band prepared to release its new album, Life, Love & Hope, Tom found himself making an acceptance speech for a PETA Compassionate Action Award.

PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk presented the award at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on a stop on her “Naked Truth” tour. After Ingrid’s impassioned speech, Tom encouraged everyone to be not just followers but also leaders of the animal rights movement. He certainly has been doing that for more than 30 years.

Here’s to a lifetime of working in harmony to end animal suffering.

Tom Scholz’s charitable foundation is all encompassing. It strives to protect the lives of farm animals, wildlife species, companion animals (dog, cats, horses and others) marine mammals, fish, wildlife habitats and the preserveration of ecosystems. He also provides help to children, the homeless and people who suffer from hunger. Tom has reverence for the lives of all creatures great and small. A cruelty-free and vegetarian lifestyle is idyllic and conducive for creating a more humane, green, pristine and civilized world. Tom’s been modestly doing this for over three decades in a very generous and benevolent manner.

Tom Scholz is arguably the most animal loving and charitable vegetarian in the music industry. He’s a uniquely virtuosic guitarist and a sterling organist. Scholz has donated millions of dollars to alleviate both animal and human suffering. Boston’s new “Life, Love and Hope” CD is replete with euphoric, emotive and poignant songs. Vocalists include the late Brad Delp in addition to Tom Decarlo, David Victor and Tom Scholz. Tom’s instrumental prowess resonates throughout this exemplary CD.
A very talented, cerebral and compassionate person, namely, Tom Scholz, rocks my world.
