‘Bloody Yogis’ Descend on Donna Karan Keynote

Written by PETA | May 19, 2008

Donna Karan had a bit of an unpleasant surprise at the Yoga Journal Boston Conference on Saturday, in the form of naked PETA members doused in fake blood and crouched in yoga poses. Just our subtle way of saying, “Hey, DK, how about a little less with the nonviolence speeches and a little more with the not skinning bunny rabbits to make clothes?” Except, like without the confusing sentence construction.

The Boston Herald has the story.

Great protest PETA and congrats for getting a write up by the Boston Herald!! It’s sure to reach a wide audience!! Love your creative protests. As someone who practices yoga and Buddhism I’m appaled that Karan would be invited to speak for this bogus magazine in light of the suffering she has perpetuated. Well said by Holly nonviolence towards all is what it is about. Good work again PETA.

Great Great job guys! BUT don’t stop there!! Please please keep the message going! Contact the Donna Karan web site DonnaKaran.com and express your outrage with their policys of using animal fur!!

  • Mariya Williamson says:

Great marketing! Awesome for the PETA team to spot the ‘rabbit’ link. Thank you for caring.

  • Christina says:

    Great protest!

Wow…indeed great visuals. I just can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that some designers still want to continue using real fur. Unfortunately more than ever before the demand for real fur either rabbit dog or cat etc. has grown exponentially. As I’ve always said to stop the supply we must end the demand. Consumers have the most power. Just Say No to real fur!!!

Donna Karan almostreminds me of the big shots over at KFC!! Give it up!! How hard is it??!! Peta isn’t going away anytime soon!!

  • Ana says:

Great demo!!!!! I don’t buy anything from rotten Karan.

  • Phyllis says:

Love it! PETA is always so creative and always right on the mark. Those activists deserve a standing ovation. It is so encouraging to see that there are still people willing to make themselves such effective voices for the voiceless. I’ve just got to pass this on to my email list!

Hares to you Peta for making DK’s hypocrisy visible.

  • Pam says:

That is fantastic but how do we get to know about these protests in our area so that we can come and show our support?

  • Holly says:

AHIMSA FOR ALL ANIMALS A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urging the avoidance of harm and violence. Go Vegan

  • Mark says:

Great job on the protest. I hope someone was giving out flyers that guy “Matt Rice” is good at that maybe he was there. It’s still really interesting that as you said before people google “PETA” rather than typing in a URL but it feels so odd not to see a website on the posters. Excuse the confusing sentence structure.
