Bill O’Reilly Nails Bullfighting

Written by PETA | August 20, 2010

Did you catch The O’Reilly Factor last night? Well, here’s your chance to marvel at the spot on things Bill O’Reilly said in regard to yesterday’s attempted escape—and subsequent murder—of a bull during a Spanish bullfight. This quote is just too good not to share.

“Again, there is simply no reason to have bullfights. It is blood sport. Spain and the other countries that do it should knock it off. They are pinheads for allowing it.”

I was very pleased to hear Mr. O’Reilly comment on this. I was very disappointed at the mainstream media Today Show etc who showed the clip and only showed concern for the people in the audience. The bull was terrified and that should have been pointed out. It came across like they were only showing it for “wow” value.

  • ocean17 says:

that is just plain sick and cruel for the animals. yes this is a bloodsport yes this should be stopped. so easy to act unkind.

  • Curtis says:

By the way on some other news networks the bull was portrayed as the one who was ‘overly aggressive’. Ugh don’t they know he was tortured?! Major thanks to Bill O’Reilly and FOX News. Millions watch The Factor nightly so it is a big deal when O’Reilly condemns this barbaric blood sport. I have sent him an email of thanks to O’

  • Linda says:

This poor bull was just trying to escape the monsters stabbing and torturing him. Mainstream media gave the tragedy a twisted spin said the bull ran amok. Blame the victim. Media often does that when captive elephants flee their tormentors too.

  • Ann says:

Bullfighting is DISGUSTING and UNCONSCIONABLE. Spain should be ASHAMED of itself. Seriously when are people going to wake up to the reality that animals are not entertainment food sports clothes etc.???????

  • Angie Otto says:

Thank you Bill for speaking outon this blood sport. I cannot believe in this day and age we still allow this type of animal cruelty.

  • Lindsey D'Antonio says:

Just one of the many examples of how animals feel pain and fear. It is ridiculous it was killed for trying to escape the torture. Thanks for covering this Bill we need more media figures like you

  • Mateo says:

I can’t stand this man and his views but I absolutely agree with him on this! Thanks you Bill O’Reilly.

  • Marcia says:

I never thought I was say “bravo Bill O’Reilly” but I will in this case. Bullfighting is disgusting and inexcusable. Those who engage in fighting or watching don’t even seem to realize what it says about themselvesthey are barbaric.

  • Kelly Scriven says:

A bull TRIES to escape from being tortured barbarically and killed he tramples the sick people that have gone to see this happen and the bull gets put down???? Key word..escape! Thanks to Bill O’Rielly for nailing this one!

  • Linda says:

Silence gives consent. So much world allowance of European bullfights is proof positive that we remain in the dark ages. Bull fights are outrageously cruel. More people need to speak out against this atrocity. We must shout out our rage. We must boycott Spanish products and from other countries that allow the bloody spectacle. Do not travel there send letters to Prime Ministers saying you won’t go until they end bull fights. That is how we stop bullfighting!

  • Curtis says:

I DID see this. Good job Bill!

  • maureen says:

Thanks Billmaybe people will now start to think about they cruelty they inflict on animalsthe bull was still tortured before it was killed if you think about itall he was trying to do is get away from peopleyou could see he was scared to death so to speak.Maybe those families will stop going to bull fights after living through all the BULL…..

  • Loren Hart says:

Well I can tell you truly that I had no idea I’d be sending Bill O’Reilly a thank you message today but that’s what I’ve just done. And you can too! As Karen Dawn of says media take audience feedback seriously. You can encourage more positive animal coverage from Bill O’Reilly and FOX News by writing a quick message to Bill at Thanks for considering!
