• Tired of High Gas Prices? Get a Free Fill-Up

    Written by PETA

Record high gas prices have motorists feeling low, but PETA's Petrol Pin-Ups are easing the pain at the pump. The lovely ladies pumped two free gallons of gas for some Las Vegas motorists Tuesday. While the pin-ups filled their cars, patrons filled their stomachs with free Tofurky sandwiches.

According to Environmental Defense, if every American skipped one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetarian foods instead, the carbon-dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than a half-million cars off the road.

It's tough to say if the Tofurky sandwiches or the free gasoline was the bigger hit, but PETA's Petrol Pin-Ups had drivers pumped up all day. If your gas station just has a guy with a greasy shirt, you can still browse hundreds of vegetarian recipes for a meal that's kind to you and the environment.

  • Lettuce Ladies Fill Up Tummies and Tanks

    Written by PETA

With food and gasoline prices entering the stratosphere, PETA's Lettuce Ladies thought that they would give people some food for thought and a message they could get some mileage out of. The Lettuce Ladies stopped at a 76 gas station in Santa Barbara and gave 2 gallons of free gas to the first 50 customers there. They even pumped! They also gave out free Tofurky sandwiches and vegetarian/vegan starter kits.

People were lined up to get free gasoline and take pictures with the ladies. And the vegan treats and starter kits flew out of the Lettuce Ladies' hands as people were telling each other that they had to try the sandwiches and asking where they could buy Tofurky. We just like to call it our Lettuce Lady economic stimulus package.

  • Lettuce Ladies Give Away Gasoline!

    Written by PETA

Any good Marketing professional knows their “ABCs of Marketing”* — Ability to persuade, Businesslike demeanor, and of course, Coercion through bribery. Well, yesterday, in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Beckley, West Virginia, PETA’s Lettuce Ladies rocked all three of these important guidelines as they gave away free gas and vegan sandwiches to 100 people in exchange for a brief chat about the benefits of a vegan diet.

According to the Ladies, there were huge crowds gathered to take advantage of the freebies and find out what all the fuss was about after a news report announcing this unique demonstration, and they gave away hundreds of vegetarian starter kits to a very receptive audience, who were stunned to learn that eating just a single pound of meat is the environmental equivalent of driving more than 40 miles in an SUV. Here’s what my friend and professional Lettuce Lady Colleen Higgins had to say about the experience: "In a time of rising gas prices and rising concern for the environment, we're going the extra mile to help Americans fill up on vegan fuel for their tummies and gas for their tanks." Good stuff.

    *I just made these up.
