Having spent some time treading the boards, I know that when something you do onstage (like smoking a cigar, for example) may disturb audience members, you have to find a way to walk the line between realism and comfort levels. Fortunately, when complaints arose about the use of real fur coats in a production of Evita at Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg, the company resolved the conflict by switching to luxurious faux furs, even posting signs on the doors to explain that no real furs are used in the show. Montecasino's sensible and empathetic choice to go faux has earned the theater a Compassionate Action Award from PETA.
Ready to fake it? Check out the great faux furs from our featured vendors in the PETA Mall—you'll get cruelty-free cred, and your purchase will help support PETA's work to help animals!
