• Michelle Pfeiffer's Newest Role: Vegan!

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

Michelle Pfeiffer is known for three decades of film and television roles, Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe, her stunning and ageless beauty, and, now, her cruelty-free diet. She told Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN that the evidence pointing to the healthfulness of a vegan diet is so clear that "I couldn't not listen to it."

Rani Williamson, aka "Miss Maine USA," might not have snagged the tiara at the Miss USA pageant, but she captured a lot of hearts for promoting vegetarian eating.

Pink's heart belongs to her daughter, Willow Sage, whose first birthday party the singer celebrated with an adorable three-tier vegan cake shaped like baby blocks.

The book that's veganizing the world, Skinny Bitch, will soon be veganizing the fiction section as well when the new novel Skinny Bitch in Love hits shelves.

Who is likely to be celebrating by vegetarian Fiona Apple's side when her new album comes out this month? Her rescued pit bull mix, Janet, who is her constant companion.

Sophia Bush added a new rescued pit bull mix to her family, and PETA helped her welcome little Griffin with toys, treats, and our "Mutts Rule" T-shirt

Leonardo DiCaprio is jumping in to save fins. The actor helped get a ban on shark-finning passed in California, and now he's set his sights on getting a similar bill passed in New York.

Steve-O flips pizza with Nanci Alexander at her restaurant, Sublime, in south Florida.

In honor of Culinarians Day, we've whipped up a list of some of our favorite vegan celebrity chefs, chefs who cook for celebrities, and cruelty-free restaurants where you might just catch celebrities chowing down. Tasty! Check it out:

    • Tal Ronnen: A graduate of New York City's Natural Gourmet Institute, Ronnen was Oprah's chef when she embarked on Kathy Freston's 21-day vegan cleanse. His classic French technique is highlighted in his book, The Conscious Cook, which is a must for anyone who wants to impress dinner guests with gourmet fare such as succulent "chicken" scaloppini.
    • VegiTerranean: There's no pretending that Chrissie Hynde's rockin' restaurant in Akron, Ohio, won't blow you away with robust vegan dishes such as Chick'n Fried Portobello Steak or Mango BBQ Pizza.
    • Alicia Silverstone: We'd be clueless not to mention the sultry star who penned The Kind Diet. Alicia also stars in one of PETA's sexiest public service announcements ever.
    • Sublime: Nanci Alexander has been serving up brick-oven pizzas and European fare such as Penne Puttanesca and Quiche Lorraine to the likes of Pamela Anderson, Ami James, and Steve-O. Can't get to the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, restaurant? Pick up a copy of The Sublime Restaurant Cookbook, and you'll be impressing your friends with sophisticated Mushroom Ceviche and luscious Coconut Cake in no time.
    • Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin: Coming out of the modeling industry, the authors of the Skinny Bitch series, which has been endorsed by Victoria Beckham and other celebrities, have taken the country by storm. If you haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon, don't fret—you can find the latest installment of the series in the PETA Catalog.

One lucky reader can win the Skinny Bitch Ultimate Everyday Cookbook. For a chance to win, just leave a comment telling us who your favorite vegan celebrity is.*

A photo snapped by paparazzi of everyone's favorite ex-Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, buying a copy of Rory Freedman's Skinny Bitch has sparked a massive spike in sales of the diet book that has been described as "a no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous." What interests me in particular about this little piece of gossip is that if Victoria and her fans follow the book's advice, we'll have even more talent batting for the vegan team pretty soon, since Skinny Bitch is a fantastic piece of advocacy for a vegan diet. Here's what Ingrid Newkirk says about the book:

“Skinny Bitch combines a ‘take no prisoners’ attitude with cogent analysis and scientific proof to make an engaging, wickedly irreverent, and iron-clad case for eating healthfully. If I had it in my power, I’d provide a free copy to every young woman in the developed world; we could then become, instead of the fattest next generation in history, the healthiest.”

Enjoy the new diet, Victoria. And thank you, Rory—you’re amazing.
