• A Party for a Mermaid and a Rose

    Written by Alisa Mullins

Nickelodeon star Daniella Monet unveiled her new ad for peta2—in which she encourages young people to let fish off the hook by not eating them—at a star-studded reception at the wildly popular all-vegan Sublime restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday.

In an interview that can be viewed on peta2.com, Monet explains why she went vegetarian at the age of 5: "I went to a dude ranch with my family, and I asked a lot of questions. And I got answers that I probably needed to hear." As for people who say that they're "vegetarian" but still eat fish? "Fish aren't veggies," she says. "Fish have feelings, too, and fish are trying to live a life as well." She adds, "You don't need fish. Let the fish swim with the mermaids."

Monet also presented 12-year-old Rose McCoy—a lifelong vegan and animal rights defender—with the Nanci Alexander Activist Award, named for the owner of Sublime and a longtime PETA member. Among Rose's many accomplishments, she has spoken (remember—she's 12) at a McDonald's annual meeting and at New York City Council meetings, has formed an animal rights club, and donates a portion of her cat-sitting money to PETA's spay/neuter mobile clinics

Also in attendance were Mexican soap star Pablo Azar, who showed off his dramatic new anti-circus PETA ad, and NY Ink star Ami James, who did likewise with a new ad starring himself and his adorable dog, Bella.

Among other stars lending glamour to the festivities was model and TV host Elisabetta Canalis, a vocal animal advocate who would rather go naked than wear fur and who memorably locked herself in a sweltering car last summer to illustrate the need to protect dogs from the heat

  • 'If I Can Dream' ...

    Written by PETA

… that handsome actor Ben Elliott, stunning model Giglianne Braga, and hunky singer-songwriter Justin Gaston (also known for canoodling with Miley Cyrus) would agree to strip for PETA's "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign, would my dream come true? The answer is yes!

We're delighted that after viewing our exposé about the ugly, cruel fur industry (and in one case, receiving a little parental guidance), the three stars of the live interactive sensation If I Can Dream each decided to support our anti-fur efforts by posing naked for famed photographer Robert Sebree.

Watch the drama unfold—from their first meeting with PETA's Michelle Cho to learning how to camouflage their naughty bits to the threesome's steamy photo shoot—in this taped episode.

While their near-nakedness is possibly NSFW, it's most definitely HHFSIA—as in "Hugely Helpful for Saving Innocent Animals." We thank Ben, Giglianne, and Justin for helping animals by taking it off—and we ask you to help them by putting it on.

  • Tila Tequila Loves to Fake It

Our friends over at globalGrind have given Tila Tequila a place to speak her mind, and the Queen of MySpace has some harsh words for animal abusers.

Titling her post "Killing Animals is F**ING Wrong … It's That Simple," she's giving raccoons, bunnies, foxes, and all animals killed for fur a shout-out:

I don't know who those people are that have it in their hearts to skin an animal while [he or she] is still alive, but I hope that by promoting fur alternatives I'm doing my part to stop that needless suffering. You will never see me wearing a fur, and if you do, rest assured it's FAKE. If you love animals, you cannot justify wearing them. It's that simple. Remember, hot girls fake it … for the animals. I should know, cause I'm hot. Lol.

Yes, Tila, you are hot! And your heart of gold makes you even sexier (if that's possible). I would like to be the first to officially suggest that the charity work you are considering should include joining other sexy celebs such as Eva Mendes and Khloe Kardashian and using what your momma gave ya to rock our "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign.
