I may be an Orioles fan, but even I'll cheer for Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle after hearing that he and his wife, Jamie, have paid the medical bills for Shelby, a dog who was recently found with a hunting arrow in her side.
Buehrle, who pitched the 18th perfect game in major league history, supports a number of animal shelters and rescue groups, and he and Jamie are helping to strike out homelessness through the monthly "Sox for Strays" program, which shows off adoptable animals at U.S. Cellular Field during the baseball season.
