• Guess Which 'Mad Men' Stars Are Vegetarian

How does Mad Men star Jessica Paré (aka "Megan Draper") keep her svelte figure? A vegetarian diet. Jessica told People magazine, "It's amazing what your diet can do for your skin." And Vincent Kartheiser isn't really a bad boy—he just plays one on TV. In real life, Vincent eats cruelty-free, too.

Los Angeles chef Roy Choi gained fame for his Kogi BBQ food truck, but he has turned his back on meat, earning him props from animal advocates and a slew of goodies from PETA.

And Scarlett Johansson credits vegan foods with helping her get ready for that Avengers bodysuit.

When vegan powerhouses collide: Catch the conversation that everyone's favorite vegan former POTUS, Bill Clinton, had with Ellen DeGeneres and prepare to swell with vegan pride.

Disturbed at how Ukraine is cruelly killing stray animals before the Euro 2012 football championship, the always gorgeous vegetarian beauty Pamela Anderson wrote to the president of the Union of European Football Associations imploring him to support spaying and neutering as a way to control animal overpopulation. Then, while she was in Mumbai, Pam was so stricken by the plight of the many homeless dogs roaming India's streets that she adopted one to join her family of rescued dogs.

Never one to miss an opportunity to speak up for animals, Pam joined other celebrities in tweeting for them this week:

Diane Keaton found an opportunity to promote animal adoption during an appearance on The Tonight Show. The witty star of the new film Darling Companion and longtime vegetarian introduced the audience to Clover, a dog up for adoption, and said, "Clover looks like Jay … except without the chin."

The crooning voice of Enrique Iglesias was music to one dog's ears. The sultry singer expanded his dog family to three, with a rescued German shepherd.

And country songbirds Kellie Pickler and Laura Bell Bundy both chose animal-friendly professions for their appearances on Great American Country's Day Jobs. Sexiest Vegetarian alum Kellie worked at a sanctuary with elephants rescued from circuses and zoos, and PETA pal Laura prepped a homeless dog from Emmylou Harris' animal shelter, Bonaparte's Retreat, for her big "audition" for a potential adoptive family.

  • Carrie Underwood Goes Vegan

Country songbird Carrie Underwood told the Australian talk show The Circle that she's now vegan. While promoting her album Play On down under, the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity alum told listeners that she is "kind of lactose-intolerant" and that she had cut all dairy products from her diet.

With Carrie and fellow Sexiest Vegetarian winners Kellie Pickler,  and Shania Twain  all singing the praises of vegging out, will other country artists soon follow suit? Perhaps we'll turn on the radio and hear a slow, twangy ballad about love lost and tofu found?

  • Kristy Lee Cook: From Runner-Up to Dead Last

American Idol season seven runner-up Kristy Lee Cook is doing anything she can to get her "15 Minutes of Shame." In her new television show on Versus (formerly the Outdoor Life Network), Kristy is traveling around the country shooting animals. It sounds like she must have had those tired old defenses of hunting hammered into her as a kid, because she isn't embarrassed to float the incredibly old saw that hunters somehow help animals … by killing them while they're in the woods with their families minding their own business.

We hope Kristy will realize that her quest for fame would be better served by following in the footsteps of two of her fellow Idol alums-turned-country-stars. Vegetarian and Idol winner Carrie Underwood, for instance, has won five Grammy Awards and had 13 straight number one singles, while Kellie Pickler—our 2009 Sexiest Vegetarian winner—sold more than 800,000 copies of her debut album. And sensational Simon Cowell condemns fur, promotes spaying and neutering, and shot a public service announcement urging people not to leave dogs in hot cars.

Now is the time for Kristy to use her powerful voice as a weapon and hang up her gun collection for good.

"I just found out that I was voted 'PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian!' How cool is that?!! Thank you so much for voting!! That was totally unexpected!! I was jumping up and down when I heard the news! I even Googled it to make sure I wasn't being punk'd! Ha ha!!"
    —Kellie Pickler, MySpace.com

Kellie's exuberant reaction to winning our Sexiest Vegetarian of the Year award was too good not to share. Of course she wasn't getting punk'd! We, along with everyone who voted, just believe she has a face as lovely as her heart (and voice). Congrats, Kellie!

    Kellie Pickler

When it comes to being an animal lover, Kellie Pickler is the real deal—she only wears fake fur. Eagle-eyed viewers of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve spotted the "Best Days of Your Life" singer in what appeared to be a fur coat. But Kellie's publicist just confirmed what we suspected—that the coat was from PETA's favorite furrier: Cincinnati-based Donna Salyers' Fabulous Furs, which makes the most luxurious faux furs available.

"One night I couldn't sleep, and I was up and just Googling random stuff, and I'm like, 'Hmmm, PETA,'" said Kellie in an interview with People magazine last fall. "I saw all the videos, and I just thought it was horrible. It's animal cruelty. A lot of it has to do with knowing what happens to the animals, and it really bothered me, and so I will not eat meat." Pickler says that she shared her decision to go vegetarian with close friend and PETA "Sexiest Vegetarian" Carrie Underwood right away. She said, "I texted Carrie and was like, 'You're never going to believe this!'" PETA hopes that Nashville's newest vegetarian (in addition to Underwood, Shania Twain and Emmylou Harris also eschew meat) will pose for one of its iconic ad campaigns this year.

Is there anything more surreal than surviving countless bouts of painfully truthful admissions from the number one most-feared judge on American reality television? Yeah, of course! Just ask Kellie Pickler. The country singer went head-to-head with Simon Cowell in season five of American Idol, but it turns out that she couldn't look her own food in the face and still finish her meal.

People Magazine reports that this country gal, who has been blazin' her own trail of stardom since her elimination from the show, has recently adopted a vegetarian diet. It looks like all that palling around with fellow vegetarian and friend Carrie Underwood has paid off—for Kellie's health and for animals. Oh, and did I mention that Kellie's decision was partly influenced by a Pamela Anderson television PSA that was put out by a somewhat well-known animal rights group that you might have heard of—ah, shucks, it was a PETA ad!

Kellie says: "One night I couldn't sleep, and I was up and just Googling random stuff, and I'm like, 'Hmmm, PETA.' I saw all the videos, and I just thought it was horrible. It's animal cruelty. A lot of it has to do with knowing what happens to the animals, and it really bothered me, and so I will not eat meat."

Props to Kellie for ditching her beefy ways. It's not always easy, especially when many of the songs in her music genre aren't so—shall we say—vegetarian-friendly. The former rare meat junkie says she already feels healthier, and that is a mighty good thing considering that she just released her self-titled second album.

Maybe on her next album she can sing about pigs in gestation crates or veal calves confined to tiny stalls. No?
