• Guess Who Topped Perez Hilton's Worst-Dressed List

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

Why can't Kim Kardashian just stick to showing skin instead of wearing it? In one of her furry ensembles, she claimed the top spot on the ultimate list of dishonor: Our buddy Perez Hilton named her "Worst Dressed."

Ke$ha doesn't think that any animals should die young. That's why she's designing her own line of faux-fur clothing and accessories.

Snooki could be Ke$ha's best customer. The guidette was quick to tell her millions of Twitter followers—in her own hilarious way, of course—that she sports only faux fur. No wonder she's one of the stars whose funny animal-friendly tweets always make us titter over Twitter.

While the city of Los Angeles isn't exactly a celebrity, it's certainly full of them. And we're so proud that L.A. became the first major city in the world to embrace and endorse Meatless Monday

Lea Michele is reportedly helping her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, have Meatless Everydays. When he wanted to drop some weight, Lea helped him embrace vegan foods, and now that Cory is 20 pounds lighter, this former "meat and potatoes" guy is a "quinoa salads and veggie burgers" hunk.

Fellow Glee star Becca Tobin plays a mean girl on the show, but offscreen she's all heart. While shooting her campaign for BullyVille, Becca, in an exclusive, told The PETA Files, "As Kitty on Glee, I do my share of bullying. But bullying in real life—whether towards a human or an animal—is no laughing matter! If you see or hear of someone abusing an animal, tell your local authorities or PETA right away before someone else gets hurt."

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is back to putting a hurting on opposing teams, after missing part of the season because of a torn Achilles tendon. We're pumped to be cheering on one of our favorite fur-free players again.

We're also cheering for our friend Jay Sean, who was named Best Male Artist and British Artist of the Decade at the UK Asian Music Awards. We are down, down, down with his music and his support of adopting animals.

LeAnn Rimes is also down with adoption. When a friend of hers rescued a puppy who had been abandoned on a busy road in Los Angeles, LeAnn was smitten and brought the dog home the same day. Her son named the pup Eveie, and LeAnn wrote on her blog, "Eveie has a new home and family and we have a new love!"

  • Jane Lynch Not 'Glee'ful About Aquarium Party

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

Last year, Atlanta Pride's raucous party at the Georgia Aquarium raised the ire of many members of the LGBT community. PETA Vice President Dan Mathews, who is gay, attended the party to ask the organizers to consider a different location in the future. When he published a piece in The Huffington Post describing what he observed and what aquarium employees told him about how the loud, booming music torments the aquarium's marine mammals, who navigate and communicate via sensitive sonar systems, people jumped to the animals' defense. But Atlanta Pride has planned another party, with amplifiers aplenty, at the Georgia Aquarium. And again, gay animal rights advocates are calling "party foul."

In captivity, these whales have little room for exercise and are cut off from their natural social groups.

Jane Lynch wrote to Buck Cooke, managing director of Atlanta Pride, on PETA's behalf and urged him to move the party to a more humane venue:

Many of the marine mammals at the aquarium are extremely sensitive to sound, and large parties create an even more stressful environment than they already endure in captivity. Animals such as beluga whales and dolphins communicate with one another by means of an intricate sonar system. The excess noise disorients them, thwarts their ability to communicate, and sometimes causes them to attack one another …. Given the animals' extreme sensitivity to noise, the aquarium does not seem like an appropriate venue for such a large and festive gathering.

Animal advocates and the LGBT community often work hand in hand because we both understand oppression and cruelty, so there's nothing to be proud of about a Pride event that hurts animals. Please contact Atlanta Pride Managing Director Buck Cooke today and urge him to switch the event's kickoff party to a more humane venue. Atlanta Pride should be a positive, enjoyable experience for everyone, including the animals.

Should "tastes like chicken" really mean "tastes like drugs"? That's certainly how it seems in a video comparison of how fast chickens on factory farms grow vs. how fast a chicken should grow naturally.

As McDonald's prepares to open its first vegetarian restaurant, the chain should commence with some other firsts, such as ending its McCruelty to chickens and offering veggie burgers at all its U.S. restaurants.

  • Gabby Douglas Is Golden for Animals

    Written by Michelle Kretzer

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied wed last weekend, and to celebrate their nuptials, they feasted on vegan food at an all-vegan reception. PETA sent our friend Natalie the "Tea for Two" teapot from Daisy Dog Studio.

The U.S. has fallen for gold medal winner Gabby Douglas, but the gymnast hardly ever falls—except for animals. Answering Us Weekly's "25 Things You Don't Know About Me" quiz, Douglas' number one fact was "My favorite animals are dogs and cats." She went on to brag about having two dogs of her own.

Glee star Charlotte Ross hit it off with a chimpanzee named Burrito she met while visiting a Washington sanctuary. Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, which PETA works with, is a home for chimpanzees who were rescued from animal testing facilities. Charlotte said the trip made her even more determined to see the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act passed.

There was no love lost between Jane Lynch and the restaurant most notorious for bigotry and chicken abuse. Jane kicked off Comedy Central's roast of Roseanne Barr with a spirited, "F*** Chick-fil-A!" We're with you, Jane.

  • The Power of Lea Michele

    Written by PETA

'Tis the season for awards and accolades, and one person everyone is talking about is Glee star and PETA supporter Lea Michele. For her dedicated work with PETA to end animals' suffering, Lea was one of the Lifetime Impact Honorees at Variety magazine's annual Power of Women event. In her acceptance speech, Lea highlighted the cause closest to her heart—horse-drawn carriages. Watch her moving speech, which you can only see here on The PETA Files, and learn about her journey and activism with PETA:

Lea narrated a shocking undercover video, which has shown countless people how horses suffer when they are forced to pull heavy carriages all day long in all weather extremes on busy city streets. In the past month alone, three horses have been involved in accidents, including a horse named Charlie, who collapsed in the street and died. Lea promptly fired off a letter urging Mayor Bloomberg to end carriage rides.

An auction organized as part of the Power of Women is helping raise funds for the honorees' selected nonprofits. Check out (and bid on) the custom-designed dress Lea wore to this year's Met Gala that she donated to benefit PETA.

  • Lea Michele: Fashionable and Fur-Free

    Written by PETA

Lea Michele is no stranger to accolades. The Golden Globe and Academy Award-nominated star of Glee—who will also be honored for her work with PETA at Variety's Third Annual Power of Women luncheon later this month—gets rave reviews for her singing and acting talents. Lea's style is a showstopper as well, as she graces the cover of the fall fashion issue of Harper's Bazaar. But one thing that Lea leaves out of her wardrobe on and off the set is fur.

Fall is officially here, so before you think about wearing any fur or fur trim, check out Lea's anti-fur PSA and make your fashionable night out fur-free!

Brosnan. Pierce Brosnan. He's doing some not-so-covert work to save whales. True Blood star Kristin Bauer is also lobbying for protection for whales, in addition to speaking out against animal testing, circuses, zoos, fur …

The normally furry Kate Moss is in Vogue (literally and figuratively) and looking fauxtastic for a change in a creation from Donna Salyer’s Fabulous-Furs. (Here’s hoping faux fur grows on Moss like, ahem, moss.) And the always fur-free Elisabetta Canalis will soon be showing off her fox-free foxtrot.

As she trotted around visiting animal shelters, Glee star Ashley Fink fell in love multiple times, of course. And self-confessed kitty-cuddler Michael C. Hall knows exactly how she feels. Eric McCormack is so caught up in puppy love, it even inspired his new TV role.

After gaining weight for her new movie, it was Jessica Chastain's respect for animals that ensured that she didn't need much help taking it off. And the health benefits of animal-free fare will definitely be useful for WNBA champ Kara Lawson, the newest vegetarian on the block.

  • Jane Lynch Wants Dog Ad During Westminster

    Written by PETA

Every year, following the broadcast of the Westminster Dog Show, breeders and pet shops do big business, which leads to more breeding—and to an overpopulation crisis that costs millions of animals their lives each year. That's why the always fabulous Jane Lynch, one of the stars of the Fox hit Glee, sent an urgent letter to the USA Network, which airs Westminster, asking it to run a darkly humorous PETA ad that asks the provocative question, "If you buy a dog, what will you do with the shelter dog you kill?"

"Although I played an ambitious dog trainer in Best in Show, in real life I wouldn't go near the Westminster Dog Show," Jane writes. "That's why I'm asking the USA Network to please air PETA's 'Everyday Dogs' public service announcement (PSA) during your Westminster coverage so that viewers will know the real consequences of buying animals rather than adopting from shelters."

If a dog show is coming to your community, get the word out about the deadly side of breeding and pet stores and the importance of animal birth control, just like a group of concerned folks did outside the Golden Gate Kennel Club show in San Francisco over the weekend. Let's all keep it up, for the love of dog!
