Passersby outside a fur store in Toledo, Ohio, agreed that when the trap is on the other foot, fur looks really gruesome.

As our re-enactor did an excellent job of portraying an animal writhing in agony and trying to escape a lethal steel-jaw trap, the fur store owners stayed hidden inside their shop, without entertaining so much as a single patron.

t all worked up over. Most of the people who beleive these horible stories about trapping and the steel trap itself have obviously never tagged along with a responsible trapper on his trapline. Just my opinion....

Bandhog: Not saying this to be mean. Just quite seriously, are you blind? Last Spring, a maintenance man where I lived set steel gopher traps by the creek. A child discovered one and was really traumatized to see it had pretty much chewed the flesh from it's own leg trying to escape. THAT was a gopher trap. I just don't think were I just have such a hard time accepting that I'd just sit there, stuck in a trap cutting into my bones, and die peacefully. I don't know, maybe it's me. Call me crazy. Just doesn't seem like the way I'd choose to live....or to die.

I just cant understand why some people beleive everything they hear about the fur trade and steel traps. I run a trapline every year and harvest racoon,coyote,bobcat,badger,skunk,opossum and beaver. I have enjoyed my trapline since i was a child and have never witnessed the things peta claims about steel traps. I am very much against fur farms and torturing animals. I think peta does a good job in most of the things they are involed with but I have to say they go overboard with a few things. I have yet to see the horror and blood as they claim with trapping. In my opinion trapping is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and earn a little extra money. And yes im sure if you use a bear trap to catch a rabbit there would be damage to the rabbit. Trappers use the right equipment for the targeted species. State laws are strict on trapping and I think they should be. I only wish the truth about trapping was all over the web and not horror stories for people to get all worked up over. Good job! People need to see things as close to reality as you can get. What's better than a person in a trap, after all mankind created the stupid things. Way to go PETA!
