'Win It' Wednesday: Nature's Gate Goodies

Nature's Gate is giving one lucky PETA Files reader a head-to-toe summer makeover. Just in time for beach season, this bountiful bag of body-care products has everything you'll need to be cute and cruelty-free all summer long. The full-size products are stashed in a reusable canvas tote, perfect for the coast or the co-op.

To enter, just tell us how you educate others about the need to buy cruelty-free instead of supporting animal-testing meanies. The most inspiring answer will grab the beachy-keen goody bag.

The contest will end on June 15, 2011, with the winner chosen on June 17. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting.

WEll i always tell them to put them selfs in the animals place...i wouldn't like it if someone was testing on me or wearing my skin and i also wouldn't like it if other people were sporting them to do it =(

People often comment on the amount of time I spend reading the labels on personal care products, which gives me a great opportunity to explain why I will not buy products that are animal tested or contain animal-derived ingredients. I also pin copies of the PETA cruelty-free guide to store bulletin boards.

I always strive to be assertive but non-invasive when it comes to activism. If I'm shopping with someone and they pick something up that I know is tested on animals, I'll swiftly add that they are buying something which is tested on animals and suggest an alternative with a casual comment like "This is cheaper/better anyway!" :)

I tell people about cruelty free products by asking them if they have a pet, then I hand them the Peta animal testing print out. Most of them don't even know any of it and are happy for the information.

As a high school teacher, I educate my students about cruelty-free products. As a project for Economics, students were asked to write a report on cruelty-free businesses and their products and explain the benefits of such products and why these businesses are growingand becoming more popular.

I once saw an undercover video showing a cosmetic and personal care company's horrible animal testing performed in the name of research. There were tiny cages with the saddest looking cats in them that had been blinded by chemicals. I have two cats at home and I cannot even imagine someone doing that to them. Now, everytime I am shopping for a new product that image is in my mind. Is my shampoo or mascara worth that kind of torture? Of course not. Nothing is. So I look for the cute little bunny logo on all my products to make sure they are friendly and 100% of the time they are better quality then the hurtful alternative.

I just do something that my granma told me. Don't do any harm to nobody because you will not want the same happen to you. So no more meat or cruel fashion for me. I turn vegetarian and my skin looks amazing, I'm losing weight and feeling better. Also I'm wearing natural products so my skin and hair looks much better without chemicals. Cruelty free is not only compasionate also is better for your interest, that's what I tell people around my, they see with their own eyes that my change to vegetarian really works. Well it's working for me. :)

Everyone knows me as a complete animal lover! so when they go shopping with me, they know I'm going to tell them what food or beauty product is good or evil. I'm forever telling my mum and friends what they should buy instead and if I have coupons for vegan products I share them too. At the grocery store I also walk past the meat and dairy aisles making grossed out faces and comments. That way strangers hear me and maybe get the hint!

I tell them Betty White would be sad if they bought something that hurt an animal. But seriously, while actions are pretty loud, money is the great silencer. Buying products that are cruelty-free sends a message that you as a consumer are spending in line with your ideals. Feeling good, looking better and knowing your actions are contributing to the well being of others, be they humans or not, is empowering.
