Not since The Brady Bunch has a butcher seemed cuddly, and even then, Sam was pushing it. Now De Vegetarische Slager—the Vegetarian Butcher—is open for business in the Netherlands, and the owners are keeping animals alive and people's tummies full with their scrumptious "cuts" of faux meat. The glass cases are filled with lean, protein-rich options made from soybeans and lupin beans. Leg of lupin, anyone? Side of soybean? Finally, there's a butcher shop worth loving. While we wait for the owners to open a location across the pond, most grocery stores and health food stores stateside carry a great variety of meat-free options that aren't made by people wearing gross bloodstained aprons.

Unless you taste some good vegan food you'll never know. And who appointed you as spokesperson for all meat-eaters?
If you want a meatless diet why eat fake meat?
It makes more sense to eat a natural vegetarian diet rather than a lot of processed meat substitutes.
I'm not trying to crap on anyone's parade, I'm just saying that this butcher shop isn't going to be the end all of meat butcher shops.
BTW, I do eat some vegetarian, but will also be observant of most people's thinking.
In fact, it's a little stupid IMHO to call it a "butcher shop" because of the innotations of it being meat. Maybe "Veggie Deli(cious)" instead?
im sorry but not that many people are going to by into this. to meat eaters (like me) it just dosent look appetizing. maybe to vegans its looks good. but to meat eaters that i know yall are trying to convert this will just make them not want to try it even more. maybe if they could come up with something that looks and tastes good then yall might have a better chance.
jadewarlock, why are you trying to crap on their parade? It doesn't say on there anywhere that the only thing they offer is soy. Soy meat alternatives are very good for lots of people. I'm sure SOME people can't eat soy, but not the majority. And there are probably other options for people who don't want soy. I ate a veggie burger in a steak house the other day made of black beans and rice. Theres tons of veggie options and a veggie meat store sounds fantastic to me.

I think this is fantastic! I wish I could find more vegan options here in central Alberta.(major farming industry) I make due but would love to have more to choose from.Anybody know of any?
