In the spirit of the holiday season, PETA is sending a gift basket full of treats and toys to the Obamas' "son," Bo, as a reminder to his human family that millions of dogs who are every bit as deserving of presidential perks as the first dog suffer cruelty and neglect. This gift basket, which is full of the kinds of goodies that dogs' daydreams are made of, also happens to be the prize for this week's "Win It" Wednesday contest.
Want to win it? Of course you do. Tell us what animal protection measure you'd immediately sign into law if you became president. The first thing that pops into my head? I'd pass a law requiring that all dogs be allowed inside—no more shivering 24/7 on chains or in filthy backyard pens. Give it some thought and then wow us. The person who comes up with the "law" we think would deliver the biggest punch in the fight for animal protection will score the prize.
The contest ends on December 28, 2010, and the winner will be chosen on December 30, 2010. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting.
No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.
Good luck!

My law would be any sexual abuse of an animal would be treated as someone that had sexually abused a child. They would have the same type of punishment, have to register as a sex offender etc.
I'd pass a law that all pet owners must pass a test before owning a one, like adopting a child!
I would sign into law that anyone convicted of any kind of animal abuse would have to work with homeless, abused animals a minimum of 5 hours a week for 1 year.Longer for more severe cases.
My law would be if ayone is caught abusing animals in anyway leaving them outside when its cold obviously physically and abandoning them they should get automatic prison time and solitary confinement would e bsuch a bad choice and also anyone that knows abuse is going on and doesnt report should be in trouble too! There is no reason for it if you cant handle an animal dont have one find a home there are plenty of options!
NO more kill shelters
thank u
I would make it a law that there would be no more 'kill' animal shelters :(
Any animal cruelty would be punishable by law and sentences to be served in the fullest!
If I were elected President, I would make it a law that anyone having a pet would be required to love and provide for their pet as they would a child. Pets are not just animals. They are living, breathing creatures that supply a lot of love and companionship to their owners and should get the same in return.
I would make a law that dogfighters be given the maximum sentence and never be allowed to ever own or be around any animal again
