I may be an Orioles fan, but even I'll cheer for Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle after hearing that he and his wife, Jamie, have paid the medical bills for Shelby, a dog who was recently found with a hunting arrow in her side.
Buehrle, who pitched the 18th perfect game in major league history, supports a number of animal shelters and rescue groups, and he and Jamie are helping to strike out homelessness through the monthly "Sox for Strays" program, which shows off adoptable animals at U.S. Cellular Field during the baseball season.

As with all people, we must look for the good in them. At least he's doing SOMETHING to help someone other than himself. Instead of bagging on Peta for running the story, try looking for the good in people beginning with yourself.
That's great of Mark to help out this poor injured animals. MVP all the way!
Re: Kelly Mercado: PETA is grateful that Mark Buehrle has helped animals in this case, and we encourage him to extend that same compassion to all animals.
Do your research, PETA. Glad he saved a dog, but this guy and his wife are huge bowhunters themselves. Do you think he sees a connection between this poor dog and the animals he maims and painfully kills with these same arrows?
Whoops - thanks Shannon. Fixed that!
Buehrle pitched a perfect game in 2009, not 2010.
