If anyone still believes that "organic" eggs are a humane choice, please look at these gut-wrenching photos from the Organic Valley farm in Wisconsin: They show birds in stinking, stifling, windowless warehouses, crammed so tightly together that they're barely able to move—much less spread their wings, scratch in the dirt, or interact normally in any way.
The heartbreaking photos were released by a farm-policy research group called The Cornucopia Institute in a report called "Scrambled Eggs," which details the entrenched abuse in industrial-scale egg factories.
As the pictures attest, "organic" doesn't mean that birds are allowed to be free. Cage-free does not mean free range, of course, and so the chickens can still be crammed into sheds and forced to suffer through having a part of their beak cut off, just like birds on factory farms. But "organic" does mean that the chickens aren't fed antibiotics—leaving them all the more susceptible to illness in the filthy, poorly ventilated, crowded conditions.

Just give up eggs
This just beggars belief, it's cruelty for the sake of it, there is not a single excuse for this to be allowed to happen, it's shameful.
Im glad that I have 3 cage free hens that give me ggs ever day!!They just run around the farm being happy.I also have one rooster who runs around to.
This is free range?!?! I am shocked, saddened and grossed out and will NEVER eat eggs after seeing this! I was phasing out of them anyway (after my friend clarified what they really are: menstrual waste) but this just seals the deal for me.
I HAVE BEEN VEGAN NOW 3 WEEKS, WAS VEGI BUT CANT STAND THE WAY ANIMALS ARE FARMED ANYMORE..I WILL NEVER EAT ANOTHER ANIMAL...OH AND I FEEL GREAT..
I keep my own hens who are TRUE free-range. They scavenge everything - even the doggie-do. I collect most of the eggs, which are enough for me, my staff and my friends. I let selected hens "set", and I only let my ducks "set" 6 eggs out of the 20 they lay. I'm not a vegan, but I have to be self-sustaining on my farm, and my birds are HAPPY. I'm appalled to see the conditions in this article - I KNOW my birds who each have their own personality and feelings.
IT IS A SHAME TO SEE THAT HUMAN STILL THINKING IN TERMS OF MONEY INSTEAD OF CARING AND LOVING THE ANIMALS.WHAT A GREAT IGNORANCE TO THINK THAT ANIMALS HAVE NO FEELING, EMOTION AND A SENSE OF LOVE. WHAT ABOUT IF EVERYTHING WERE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION?...HUMANS STOCK IN CAGE FOR EATING INDUSTRY...I AM SURE HUMANS WON'T LIKE TO SEE OTHER HUMANS IN CAGE, KILLING EACH OTHER FOR SURVIVING. THANKS PETA FOR ALL YOU GREAT WORK. IT MEANS A LOT
