New Zealander Gets All Hot and Bothered

PETA raises ruckuses—and pulses—all over the world, but we don't do it alone. We have lots of helpers, like the person who recently got our "Veggie Love" commercial, which was deemed too hot by American network execs, aired in New Zealand.

While one viewer complained that our titillating tribute to veggies was over the top, no doubt many got a load of its important message after seeing the commercial.

I agree with jenng this is tame compared to half the stuff on TV and in Music videos thats aimed at 12yr olds!

sex sells...and if they can air lady gaga rihanna and beyonce music videos then i don't see why this is TOO HOT...something is terribly wrong...

Yes I got a load of it Karen. I find the juxtaposition of lingerie cooking food like that rather funny... it's sure to perk some viewers up for the better.

Do you know where I first heard of the PETA website? On an episode of "The Simpsons." At the dinner table Lisa made a statement against animal cruelty and then added a simple "For more information go to peta.org." No elaboration no nudity just that simple statement and nothing else.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY. THIS IS A PERSONAL STORY INVOLVING THE RINGLING BROTHERS' CRULETY TOWARD ANIMALS. I AM TRYING TO RAISE AWRENESS OF ANIMALS' FEELINGS. THIS IS A SHORT SORY. PLEASE POST A BLOG RATING MY STORY AFTER YOU READ. I was born October 4th 1997. From that day I was taught that animals are people too and that you should treat them how you would wish to be treated if you were in their shoes. Up until the point of about 8 years old I haddn't been exposed to animal abuse or any such like term. Then we went to the Ringling Bros. Circus. My views were changed forever on that horrible scarring day. I remember driving through the parking lot and watching the distressed expression on my mother's face. I asked her "What's wrong Mommy?" She replied every time with the same cracking voice "Nothing Sweety. I'm so happy we're here that I'm crying tears of joy." My father seemed to be in his usual state of 'Let's get this over with' so I knew something was wrong with my mom... We found a parking spot and I practically leaped out of the car unaware of the horror that lay ahead. As we waited in the entry line for the circus I noticed my mother looking behind the monster toture house they call a tent and tears welling up in the bottom of her eyes. For a while I was busy with the sick bottomfeeder venders harrassing my family until we bought what they were trying to sell. No 8 year old stays occupied with toys for more than 30 minutes and in my case I wish I had. I told my parents I had to use the restroom which was a few yards away and that I wanted to go alone because it was so close. In truth I just wanted to see what was making my mother so upset. I worked my way through the crowd and around to the back of the tent and was horrified by what I saw. There were all sorts of exotic animals hooked up to strange machines howiling in pain. No wonder no one heard the animals' cries for help. They were muffled by the loudest motor I had ever heard in my entire life Which I still think was selected intentionally. The animals were wearing strange clothing that looked very uncomfortable. I remembered my life's lesson "Treat animals how you would wish to be treated if you were in their shoes" I MOST DEFINANTLY wouldn't want to be treated that way especially if the machines made me bleed like that. Thankfully my parents found me and we proceeded to watch the show now with discust rather than admiration. To this day that one bad experiance haunts me looming in the back of my mind. I can tell you right now I haver never been back to the Ringling Brothers' Circus and NEVER WILL!!!!!!!!! After all would you want to be treated that way? YES THIS IS AN ABOSOLUTELY TRUE STORY FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DOUBT SOMEONE'S ABILITY TO ABUSE. PLEASE WRITE A REPLY BLOG AND LET ME KNOW YOUR VIEWS ON THIS AND I WILL TRY TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. Sam

PETA I support all that you do to help animals but why not make a commercial that will actually air on TV? It's always good to catch people's attention but if it's banned less people will see it. Why not make a commercial with kids in it that are saying 'Do you really know what happens to animals?'. Then show your website or a link for one of your pages. I think the curiosity will get people to visit the site and the use of a child will catch people's attention more. I think the racy videos turn some of the more conservative people away from PETA.
