Unhappy Meal

Hot on the heels of news that some doctors are recommending that elementary school–age kids be put on statin drugs (seriously—I wish I were making it up) comes a better prescription for dealing with the side effects of the childhood obesity epidemic. Several of the U.K.'s leading doctors are recommending a junk-food jihad.

"If we were really bold, we might even begin to think of high-calorie fast food in the same way as cigarettes—by setting stringent limits on advertising, product placement, and sponsorship of sports events," said Professor Terence Stephenson, president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Meanwhile, PETA is taking the Detroit Public Library system and Detroit's first lady to task for ~~bribing~~ encouraging kids to read books by promising them a free McDonald's Happy Meal. Hopefully, kids will turn up their noses at this shameless gimmick after they read That's Why We Don't Eat Animals, a copy of which PETA has sent to the library.

Ralph I am very happy for you that you have good health but you are not saying what it is you are lacking as far as vitamins are concerned. As far as I know anemia is a lack of iron. If you tell us maybe someone here could help you find those vitamin sources without meat. But I don't get the feeling that that is what you want to do. Also people on this website are mainly concerned with cruelty to animals not their own selfish concerns. As far as Leviticus goes you are missing the point. The point is the contradictions. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot eat meat and not consume blood. And personally I do not believe that Moses wrote all of the gobblygoup and if he did he most certainly stepped outside of his anointing. He fell out of favor with God. And how ridiculously dumb and naive do you have to be to believe it was because he struck a rock with beanpole or something like that. GOD SENT MANNA FROM HEAVEN. That is what they were supposed to eat....... not animals.

Saucy you need to read Leviticus a little bit closer. Let's just say that there are more rules than you think in regard to what we can and cannot eat for everything. You can preach all you like anyway but it won't change opinions here. And do you have a comment in regard to what I've said about my very good health?

Kurt K Just when I thought you had been knocked off by a grizzly bear or a mountain lion your back. The description in Genesis 129 of what God gave us to eat is by definition vegan. It includes no meat or dairy. The Bible also does not the mention the word Christmas or Easter or Santa Clause or the Easter bunny. There is no mention of the word Rapture or Trinity either. But blood is mentioned over 400 times. Including in Leviticus also penned by Moses that says under no circumstance are you to consume the blood of beasts. You have to understand the outright contradictions in the Bible and discern the overall meaning. You have to understand that a book written over 5000 years ago has transitional errors. It even says so in the forward. Don't worry Kurt your niece can still receive a healing from this hospital. "Where sin does abound GRACE does much more abound." ....The Bible But remember no matter how hard you want to believe a LIE it will never make it the truth. Have you even tried any of the vegan options we talk about here and if not .....why?

Saucy again you do not know my nutritional needs anymore than I know yours. Trying to preach to me how wrong my diet is doesn't make me want to switch to following your advice. I'm healthy trim and haven't had to use medicine to control my health with the exception of an inhaler for my GENETIC asthma. And even here I haven't had to use an inhaler in over five years. So I still maintain a balanced diet is the best however you may consider balanced being. I know what works for me so I would say that we are now seeing eyetoeye.

Where exactly does the Lord say that? Last time I checked Genesis 129 doesn't say "THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS VEGAN!" But rather "I give you every seedbearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." Which is true but it can be interpreted many different ways. Notice that is doesn't say we shouldn't eat meat but rather we can eat plants. Genesis 93 is pretty clear however. "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants I give you everything." But I'm sure that is one of the "bad" verses in the Bible.

Also Saucy... one more point Can you please explain to me how this person you're chatting with who eats meat has a LOW blood pressure that has NEVER been controlled by medicine? If you can answer me that directly without biblical references or changing then I will be very impressed.

Saucy you're making me laugh. The more I tell you the simple truth about your diet the angrier you get. Listen using the Bible against someone who is a biblical scholar himself will not work. The Bible has both restrictions on what we eat... however it also lists things we can eat which include animals. Genesis 129 is only part of what he says in regard to diet. The truth of the matter is YOUR diet also involves death. Part of the circle of life is that something dies be it animal or plant in order for another to survive. God finds favor with all who follow him not what we eat or live. I do wonder about blaspheme and false witness though which I'm reading now.

Ralph You have provoked me to anger. How long will it be until God's full wrath comes down upon the earth? Who will find favor with God then? The good stewards of the earth who protect and preach the Goodness of God or those who devour and destroy it? You have no right to harm animals in any way. They are not ours to eat they are not ours to wear they are not ours to test on. So Sayeth the LORD!

OK for starters... the circle of life includes death. We all kill in order to survive in our circle of life including your diet. I'm sorry you need to face the facts there you too are guilty. Additionally " The farther away you get from meat and dairy the more havoc it wreaks on your system. " You're right If I went vegan it'd play havoc on my system. You MEANT to say "the CLOSER you get to meat and dairy the more havoc it wreaks on your system." But of course this is wrong as far as MY life is concerned.
