Surprise Visitor at Olympic Closing Ceremony

When you're friends with Pamela Anderson, it seems like anything is possible … even snagging tickets to one of the hottest events in Canada.

After delivering our petition against the seal slaughter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Dancing With the Stars beauty graciously gave her tickets for Sunday's Olympic closing ceremony to PETA's seal mascot. While Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, and Neil Young performed, our seal was busy educating Olympic fans from across the globe about Canada's upcoming seal slaughter.

Security tip: Wear your heart (and your tickets) on your sleeve.

He shamed, he saw, he conquered.

The party might be over, but our work for seals never stops.

I agree that chickens are also killed inhumanely here in the U.S. and it needs to be stopped also but these harp seals that have been slaughtered for over 20 years needs to be stopped as soon as possible!!! When I graduated from high school 40 years ago I started giving to the IFAW to stop it and they did manage to stop it temporarily but then it was started again!! We need to stop it this time PERMANENETLY!!!! No one needs the fur for coats as one person said on here their vanity when we have artificial fur for that. This needs to be stopped and as I said also the inhumane treatment of animals slaughtered in our country also USA. Thank you. Jerilyn Capaccione

The seals are killed very cruelly and so very unnecessary. I don't eat meat and I am trying very hard to become a vegan because I do not want to see any animal killed especially skinned while still conscious. I am against foie gras animal testing wearing wear factory farms etc. etc. and dog meat in China. I am also a member of Farm Sanctuary that takes in farm animals that have escaped death. In the US we have rules that are supposed to be followed during the slaughtering process check it out downed cows have been banned from slaughter because they are unable to actually walk to their slaughtering cell. I am tired of hearing this same old argument about chickens cows pigs. More and more people are becoming vegetarians as they become educated.

I didn't watch the olympics this year because of the seal hunt. As a canadian it makes me sad that my government actually allows the seal hunt to happen I loved that the seal was at the closing ceremonies. It would have been funny to see people's faces when they saw it. I think it's great that the seal was there. So many people were probably enlightened as to the horrors of the seal hunt.

in the beginning ALL native people had to kill animals to survive. they did it at the risk of losing their own life at times. they ate the meat wore the skins and made weapons and tools of every part of the animal they killed. now it is the 21st century and everything is different. we have synthetic means of warmth knowledge of other means for healthy diets and tools made of minerals. God entrusted the animals to our care not for exploitation but as workers companions protection and simply to enjoy and admire. let's just leave at that shall we?

I am Canadian I am an Inuk and I'm not ashamed to be wearing fur. I agree seals should not be club it is not Inuit way. For thousands of years Inuit have depended on animals for survival and still depend on it today for survival. We inuit don't believe in torture slow death but only respect animals and nothing goes to waste. I am Canadian and will continue to live the way my ansestors lived thousand of years ago until polar bears seals and all arctic animals become vegetarians then I will become a vegetarian.

I am from Canada and am embarrassed by the seal hunt. If we were meant to wear fur we'd be born with it. I also agree with those stating that comparing this to slaughter of chickens is ridiculous.

Seals are cute animals to look at not to wear or eat or what have you. Keep spreading the word there are still uneducated people out there who need to know that this senseless slaughter has to stop.
