Moby vs. Al Gore

I got my first vegan pancake recipe from Moby when his berry flapjacks were featured way back when in Seventeen magazine.

He could have stopped there, but it seems like Moby keeps coming up with ways to win my animal-loving heart.

In a recent blog entry, Moby goes the extra mile for animals and the planet by calling out "environmentalist" Al Gore over his refusal to ever mention that animal consumption is the leading cause of climate change. Moby says:

i asked al gore about why he didn't mention this in an 'inconvenient truth' (as animal production is responsible for more greenhouse gases than every car, bus, truck … plane, boat on the planet COMBINED). he answered honestly, basically saying that getting people to drive a hybrid car isn't that difficult. getting people to give up animal products is almost impossible. i appreciated his honesty. so i guess i'll be talking about climate change tomorrow, and i guess i'll have to mention the most inconvenient of inconvenient truths, that you can't talk seriously about climate change and global warming without looking at the role of animal production (animal production being responsible for 24% of greenhouse gas emissions and also the #1 cause of deforestation in the rainforest).

Gore should have named his movie Sorta-Inconvenient Truths if he didn't want to cover the environmental destruction that his meaty diet causes.

I recently wrote an antifur letter to the editor that was printed in my local paper. It was also posted on the paper's website where people were free to comment on it. Somehow it turned into 100+ comments by mostly promeat profur people who said that wearing synthetic materials was bad for the environment meanwhile having NO IDEA how bad their precious meat is for the environment. Even one "biologist" went on to say how bad it is to purchase things made of vinyl because of its negative impact on the environment. He also stated that he is a meat eater. I have known for a long time that meat is the WORST thing for the environment. I hope that people will wake up and accept this fact instead of keeping it quiet because it is inconvenient.

At least he is trying to convince people to go green. If someone goes green chances are that they will be eating organic products instead of pesticided hormonious products which is most likely vegetables. But that's not saying much since Al Gory uses 20 times as much energy as the average American.

I thought the same thing after watch the film. I appreciate Al Gore's efforts but knew immediately that he eats meat and wasn't willing to put that truth in the film because he would look like a hypocrite. But to say you want to fix something you should truly want to fix it and Mr. Gore obviously doesn't care enough to change his own diet. Had he mentioned animal production in the film I'll bet there would have been a great deal more vegans produced. Look what Skinny Bitch has done for veganism! It's fantastic. Gore needs to become vegan and spread the REAL truth about global warming. Moby as always is my hero! Glad he wasn't afraid to ask the man himself. And glad he has the access

The only National politician that has told the truth about meat harming the planet is Dennis Kucinich. For over a decade Paul McCartney and Moby have accentuated the truth. Meat kills animals and the planet.

I thought exactly the same thing when i watched it. I think Al Gore is full of St. I mean I bet he eats meat I thought turns out he does. Go Moby!!!!. He said what I always thought when I saw the movie.
