This Sunday is Father's Day, which means that dads who don't know any better may be taking their kids fishing. Anglers run the risk of eating someone's father (or mother) every time they rip a sea kitten out of the water, and that doesn't sound like a very good way to celebrate fatherhood to me.

To help spread the truth about fishing, we sent a former fisher and his giant finned friend to Fort Myers Beach in Florida. Check out the pics, and don't forget to wish your dad a happy Father's Day!

Repentant former angler Bryan Wilson and Sammy the Sea Kitten hit the pier to let people know that fish feel pain and fear just like dogs and cats do.

Sammy made some new friends …

… and issued a warning to his aquatic brethren.

you do relize almost all fish after they lay there eggs and sperm they LEAVE and let the FRY baby fish defend themselves? theres only a FEW species of fish who actually care for there young like the seahorse

This really is ridiculous. Father son teams wouldn't even be responsible for .0001 of fish pulled from the sea on any chosen day. Why don't you go after someone like the Japanese or Chinese whose fishing fleets are doing irreversible damage to our environment. Not only that but also frequently encroaching into other countries waters thereby negating any conservation attempted. Why are they there? Because their marine environment has been all but destroyed by overfishing and habitat destruction. What about the sharks? sharks today do not even reach 10 of their size potential. There are hundreds and thousands pulled in everyday by chinese fishing boats where they have their fins cut off before being dumped back in the water to drown. Whales anyone? fished out of Australian waters under the guise of scientific study for over 20 years. The same scientific study that sees the whales canned and on supermarket shelves. The Chinese government read dictatorship has even passed laws allowing it's military to protect it's whaling fleet from pirates meaning any coastguard risk's starting a war just for approaching a fishing vessel. Your time and support could be much more useful if donated to a less trivial cause.

I made my dad a great meal for his special day. I made a savory braise of shallots garlic parsely carrots and wilted greens tossed in some whole cooked beans and fresh cooked pasta shells. For dessert I made a quick puree of fresh raspberries strained out the seeds and poured it over lemon sobet and shaved some dark chocolate on top. It was yummy and nobody died in the making. Dad thought it was a perfect way to celebrate his LIFE! Nothing says I love you better than a healthy meal.

It is good and noble to protect animals from cruelty. But don't go overboard and make yourself ridiculous and redundant.

If it's ok for animals to eat each other according to PETA then why is it not acceptable for humans that evolved as huntersgatherersand yes FISHERMAN to eat fish? Humans are by nature omnivorous just like bearsracconsopossumsetc. I love all animals and would never needlessly kill anything but sea kittens dont exist. Fish do however and man has been eating them since the beginning of humanity.
