Apparently, puppy-food pâté is posh. Ready to get your laugh on? In a recent study that’s sure to make all of those hoity-toity types who still feed on foie gras choke on their canapés, researchers found that most people can’t tell the difference between dog food and "delicacies."

In a blind taste test, participants were given five food samples that included foie gras, pâté, liverwurst, Spam, and dog food. They were then asked to pick which one was the Fido fodder. Of the eighteen participants, only three were able to identify the dog food!

Can I get a “woof, woof”?! And of course some help banning this cruel product ...

Dogs are omnivores and cats are carnivores. We need protein and meat is a good source of it. You can choose to get your protein from plant.

Hey Anne! News flash! My beagle has been vergitarian for two years now. FYI Commercial vegetarian dog food is available. PetGuard vegitarian feast canned and vegitarian dry is the bomb!..according to my beagle! Dogs are NOT carnivores. The NEED their veggies just like us and. So pull your head out of wherever it's stuck and get into the new reality. WE NO LONGER NEED MEAT!

just a quick note to ANYONE aying they have to feed their dogs or cats flesh....mmmmm...NOPE! nice try though! your dog andor cat will live a longer healthier life NOT eating flesh...do some research before you post a bunch of BS here or anywhere online...yes your dog or cat can go veggie just as you did and theyll live longer...so do a little reading before you spread lies! there are a TON of great veg options for your pets...quit spreading BS to people just because youre too lazy to do research!

Debbie i am not American but your comment to the American people is offensive. You say you are a vegetarian but yet you know the taste of foie gras you regard it as a quality food I don't get your point. Foie gras is a fatty food guaranteed to put you in an early grave ducks and geese endure daily torture forced fed to make their liver big it is a gruesome practice they have no choice in their fate when in the hands of evil people but you have. People choose their path in life whether you like it or not.

You know what Debbie in case your extremely informed opinion is unaware we have a population crisis on our hands. There are too many people in the world and not enough resources under the current distribution fraud that feeds the bloodlust of 1st world nations like the USA while leaving others in the dust. If your looking for a "living" wage I suggest you look to some other industry other then "dead animal" industry. How you can even bring up morality and fois gras in the same post is beyond my comprehension and from France no less. Barfffffff! By the way Anne and Debbie doggies do just fine on a vegetarian diet. It's not like you are only feeding them raw carrots. My doggie doesn't like raw carrots but he loves them simmered in a some soy butter mixed with tofurkee and baked potato. Also there is veggie kibble and veggie wet. My doggie loves the veggie wet. So please if you want to preach morality and the factory farmed food industry you are on the wrong website!

Dear AnneBoleyn I did not say I only fed my dogs vegetables. I said I feed them alot of vegetables and their food is better than Fois Gros. What I don't feed them is commerically produced animal byproducts found on the floor of slughter houses...which is apparently not much different than Fois Gros. Vegetables are REALLY healty for dogs...and your statement that vegetables will kill them is rediculous. Baked squash green beans and romain lettuce processed into a mush in the food processor makes up nearly half of my dogs diet and they are absolutly healthy as can be. My vet gave me the diet so I hardly think its killing them. Yes they also get some human grade meat. On the other hand if I fed them garbage like Fois Gros I would seriously make them sick. Dogs have lived happily with humans for thousands of years. Until recently there was no such thing as dog food. Dogs simply ate whatever their humans had to spare. Human food and dog food should be about the same really. Don't forget to eat your veggies they are good for humans too!

Foie gras is a fatty liver produced by force feeding ducks and geese. Fatty liver is a disease. What I do not understand is why anyone would willingly eat a diseased liver.

Folks I have been vegetarian for over 20 years now. I am not against foie gras any more than any other type of animal consumption in our society. If you can knock an animal out and slit its throat that is not worse than the traditional way of raising geese in France. At least in France they do use the entire goose or duck and not waste it! Foie gras in France is not an every day food folks not like hamburgers. It is a special occasion food. And if you have had real foie gras you would never ever ever mistake it for dog food because it simply is completely different...I only wish tofu could be made to taste like that. Feeding vegetables to dogs only vegetables at least is actually rather ridiculous. Quite frankly most Americans are pretty bad about judging food quality slowly getting better so I wouldn't put anything into the fact they can't tell the difference between dog foodpate de foie gras. A question of education. But shouldn't the fight be on big things like using everything respectfully and not wasting and trying to help others eat more healthfully. "Boycott restaurants that serve foie gras." How about restaurants that don't pay their employees living wages that would be most of them except I think MacDonalds actually gives benefits. Hmmm. morality is a slippery thing isn't it!
