We're Looking at You, Canada

After reading this I have to admit that I am ashamed to be a Canadian. I had no idea that the seal hunt was being done here. I always thought that it was a different country that Canada was working to stop other countries from hunting seals. Imagine my horror after reading that MY COUNTRY IS CONDONING THIS BARBARIC MASSACRE!!!!! To everyone that has read this I offer my most heart felt appologies. I know it's not up to me to appologise but due to this monstrous deed by Canada SOME ONE HAS TO.

Excellent comments Antoine. Hopefully the EU is going to ban seal fur outright and shut down this vile industry for good. The Canadian government should be developing meaningful employment initiatives for affected East Coasters right now if as you pointed out they really give a damn.

While if asked most Canadians are against the seal hunt I wouldn't say 99.9 but at least more than half MOST Canadians are not affected in any way by the seal hunt only those in the Maritimes are. So while most Canadians may be against it in principle they don't see it as an important issue. Newfoundland has the highest unemployment rate in Canada and instead of solving the problem by creating new jobs and new possibilities for Newfoundlanders the Canadian government knows it is much easier to just support fishing and hunting practices. And the worse thing is that the Newfoundlanders are the biggest defenders of this plan. BUT THEY ARE VICTIMS OF IT! Newfoundlanders who are being shafted by this have been brainwashed into believing that the seal hunt and fishing industry is something for them to be proud of. But the seal hunt is just PROOF that the Canadian government doesn't care about them. NewBrunswick is a great example of this The government decided to invest in a top of the line telecommunication infrastructure and now the province has lots of nice wellpaying jobs for its workers and a striving economy. Canadians who are not affected by the seal hunt directly need to realize that this affects the reputation of Canada in the world and that for the survival of our economy and international standing we must put an end to the seal hunt. Canadians who are participating and supporting the seal hunt need to be shown how they are being LIED to by the government. How the seal hunt and fishing industries are actually not good for them and their children. That if the government really cared about them it would invest in jobs and economic development in Newfoundland. And that for those reasons alone they need to be against the seal hunt and refuse to work it and instead demand TRAINING and economic development from the Canadian and Newfoundland governments. And all Canadians no matter where they live need to be educated about compassion and kindness and the link between a compassionate vegan lifestyle and peace on earth.

If 99.9 of the population is against it then maybe you guys could work to stop it? American hunters are awful mean people too!
