Such a beautiful video. A perfect display of deep emotions that develop between animals. They feel for one another just as humans do. That is a something that a lot of people still have to learn unfortunately.

I just watched this video for the first time and my heart just melted at the sight of these two and the friendship they share. What further proof could we possibly need in order to recognize the sentience of animals?

I learnt about the Elephant Sanctuary several years ago and have visited their website almost every day since to follow the progress of the elephants. It's wonderful to see them come from such miserable conditions to an environment where they are free to do as they wish and where they can finally be happy. The bonds they form with their fellow elephants and clearly the other species at the sanctuary is heartwarming to see. The staff seem so patient with the animals and the work they do is amazing. In the UK I campaign against a circus that has the last elephant and although she is 'retired' she is still chained and confined to a tiny enclosure when she's not being paraded around the ring for photo opportunities with the public. Her owners maintain they love her but if they truly did they'd want to see her in a place like the Elephant Sanctuary where she could experience the next best thing to being in the wild.
