PETA at the Vick Hearing

Although the media are focusing their attention on other issues now that the furor over the Michael Vick case has died down for the time being, the horrors of dogfighting are just as present as they ever were—and there is still a long, uphill battle ahead for the animal protection community as we work to stamp out this cruel blood sport forever. Yesterday, at a hearing in Virginia to determine a trial date for Vick and his codefendants, PETA members gathered to remind the public that all dogfighters need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and that all dogs deserve justice—not just the ones who happen to be abused by famous football players.

It confuses me why people with a very limited understanding still persist to comment PETA do fantastic work this isn't about making any species extinct and anyone organising fights wether they are white black pink or orange should go to jail and dog fighting needs to be banned! michael vick is one sick bastard. he needs to feel the same pain he put those dogs through.i wish the maximum sentence for this poor excuse of human life.i hpoe someone in prison makes a name for himself and puts this sob out of his misery.

Having owned an American Bull Terrier for two years now one positive I have seen come out of this horror is changing the public attitude towards this breed. My dog was horribly abused we were able to intervene as it was happening. She was only about 2 mo old when it occured she still suffers a terrible distrust for all men it causes both the dog my husband who is a real dog lover a lot of painI have really enjoyed the pictures of Vicks' dogs being retrained socialized!

I am eight years old. I wanted to say that everyone should stop treating dogs that way and start loving them. They need to think about what they're doing before they treat a dog like that. Michael Vick needs to learn respect about dogs. He might need lessons. My pitt bull is very nice and loves me. Her name is Lucky Lou.

I read through most of the comments and the one that stood out the most was the one written by nunya. I was very unimpressed with that person's ability to turn a dog fighting ring into a racist remark. I recently rescued a pitt bull that had been starved to the point of death. It is the best dog I've ever had. Even with the most terrible of situations she found it within her heart to love man again and to give us a second chance. I wish more people were like these dogs. For a person that is screaming racism and money to us and to on the same hand discrimate theirself against a breed that they obviously know nothing about is irony. Nunya noone owes you nor your race anything. We are all human beings with a responsibility. Michael Vick should be prosecuted as should anyone regardless of color that fights innocent dogs. Nunya may God show mercy on your soul. Judge not lest ye be judged!

I've been a dog trainer for 13 years and I have worked with many pitbulls. They are an amazing breed very smart and loveable but most of all loyal. These dogs are not born fighters they have to be trained that way and think about it any breed can be aggressive I've also been a veterinary tech. for 12 years and there are many breeds that have to be muzzled just to approach them. I think Vick deserves to feel the pain and torture that he did to those dogs. Hopefully one day that will be the new law you hurt a animal and the same thing has to happen to you.

i think all people who fight dog's should be put in a ring and let the dog fight them people like michael vick's give's pit's bad name's it an't the dog's fault it was trained and told to do it i have pit's of my own 7 pretty pit's and they all get along fine i get tired of hearing just wait one day they will turn on u or each other bull i got one i've had for 8 years he stay's in the house and sleep's in our bed with me and my wife i love all animal's not just pit's but pit's get the bad end of the deal they say they r going to try band pit's in virgina i will move they r like my kids i'll let any body come around while they r eating or anything if they bite then they can have them my dog's was trained bye talking not beating just saying no stop don't quit. go to www.pitbullspace.com and check it out thank's james ramey

first of all who do any of you think you are to say that we should make extinct an entire breed of dog. that is not our decision to make espesially a breed as loving as the american pit bull terrier. not only are you lost my friend you believe you know anything about war! i am a veteran of iraq and afghanistan. the look on these innocent faces when they finally realized we freed them from the tyranny of a corrupt government and terrorism to let them live their lives as they please. and not only that they have begun to help us to clear these unwanted entities. and when i got home it wasnt the bickering about the war that helped me recover from my PTSD it was my american pit bull terrier anna who's only goal in life is to make me happy. so god have mercy on ANYBODY who tries to take my anna from me. cause i sure the hell wont.
