Petland Calculus

I have to admit that I don’t have a very good head for figures, but the math here seems pretty straightforward. And while we’re talking numbers, selling people dogs and cats when there are between 6 and 8 million waiting for homes in shelters every year is about as dumb as shelling out a thousand dollars for an animal at Petland when you could be rescuing one of the 3 to 4 million who will be euthanized this year for lack of a good home.

These pics are from Friday’s demonstration outside an Orlando Petland where we debuted our new “Priceless” ads, which make a simple but effective point to potential pet store customers.

Sadly if people continue to breed for "perfection" they will continue to increase the number of recessive lethals present in "purebred" dogs slowly killing off the bred. Sad enough without the prospect of millions of euthanized shelter dogs. I'll keep my pound puppies thank you very much! They may not win any AKC shows but they love me just the same.

I understand where all of you guys are coming from with the whole puppy mill thing really I do. I am an animal lover times ten and have been my entire life. I just wish people would stop making crazy accusations that EVERY petland in the US gets puppies from mills. It's not true. I would have thought the same thing with all this slander on the web about them. You guys are forgetting that all petlands are individually owned...the only real tie a petland has to another is that they pay for the franchise name. that's it. I work at a petland where pets are first and if you don't agree you're fired. The puppies are inspected three times before being made availible and we offer three warranties with them. Health cold Parasite all at our cost if there is an issue. as well as a congenital health warranty for three years. why would we spend our money paying for any issues if we knew theyd get them due to a mill? we wouldnt! you say petland is in the business of money right?? well it's saving us money to get the puppies from the right place and not having to deal with tons of vet bills. I know there are shady people in the world there just are there's no way around it. BUt honestly you can't group every petland together... They have freedom to buy and sell what from where how they want to. It's sad but true. I don't doubt that maybe there are petlands that do get mill puppies. All I ask is that you don't slander all petlands.. UNderstand they hardly have anything to do with one another.

I hope that now that they have a definite PetlandPuppyMill connection they'll be able to locate and shut down the suppliers of these puppies. Anyone who is thinking of getting a dog please visit a Humane Society or other Animal Control facility in your community. There are so many loving pets waiting for someone to give them a good home.

I bought a ferret from Petland located at 8800 W. Charleston Blvd. Suite 3Las Vegas NV 891177029497387 because he was on sale. He was absolutely beautiful although a little bit lethargic.They waved this full warranty crap in front of my face and me like an idiot I believed them.We left Petland and took him directly to the Vet where we spent an additional $50 having all the tests run for parasites and so on. I woke up the next morning and he was DEAD. We called Petland they said bring him in and they would make it right. When we got there it was a completely different story. They refused to exchange it for another Ferret. They refused to give us our money back. And then they told us to have the Ferret autopsied and theyre vet at our expense. More than $200. The vet wouldn't autopsy him because he had been dead more than 12 hours. Petland told us we were screwed and if we wanted our money back to take them to court. We didn't even have the ferret for 24 hours. He was a birthday gift and holding a dead ferret for my birthday was NOT my idea of a good time. I was hysterical they told us they would take care of us then they called security to usher us out of the store. Our entire experience was heartbreaking. Their warranty is not worth the paper it was written on. I urge everyone to stay far far away from this store at 8800 W. Charleston Blvd.Suite 3 Las Vegas NV 89117 7029497387.

Love it. I've been a PETA member for a long time and I would love to boycott my local Petland in Ft. Myers FL. Their tv ads are nauseating. Good job!

Hey Cochran Do you want to talk about "slipping"? What about a M.D.? who is supposed be dedicated to his patients and his career and continuous education that babbles with all kinds of silly nonsense on an ANIMAL RIGHTS' blog site? How about the same MD? claiming he's going all over the country for the purpose of joykilling? When do you have the time to slip in your "patients"? And what makes you think that you haven't slipped from upholding the standards and honorary title of "M.D."?
