"You Tube Changed My Life"

For anyone who still has doubts about the power of the internet, check out this AP story about 14-year-old Amy Bareijan. Amy wanted to go vegetarian after watching Meet Your Meat on YouTube, so she posted her own video asking for people’s advice and personal experiences that may help her. The response was overwhelming, to say the least. Check out the story here.

watching that sealed the deal for me too. Shortly after my cat died in my arms..and I realised I just didn't have it in me to eat animals. So I don't. And I won't.

Hi Amy It is so great that you're looking into going vegetarian! PETA is a great resource wlots of info. tips recipes and so forth to get you well on your way. PETA was a great source of support when I became vegetarian at 16 in fact it's from a PETA leaflet I found inside a Betty White book at the local bookstore that opened my eyes about the atrocities that are perpetrated on animals including the animals that humans eat. At the time my mom was adamantly opposed to my going vegetarian. And I do not use the word "adamantly" lightly here. The enormous amount of pressure that was coming at me was enough to make anyone just throw up their arms and say Okay Forget it! I'll start eating meat again! But nope I didn't give in. It took her awhile to come around to the idea but eventually it happened. Fast forward 19 years later she cooks and eats only vegetarian when I come over for dinner. YEAH! So Amy you may come across individuals that are opposed to your ideals but just know that there are sooooo many others out here rooting for you and supporting you! peta turned me vegan when i was 12 and here i am now vegan and loving it!!!! THANK YOU PETA don't wanna think what the world would be like without you. ps GO AMY!!!!!!!

I think this is horrible and sadistic...i am from Buenos Aires Argentina...a country that consumes lots of meat famous for it's quality...i'm not vegetarian but not much of a meat eater though...i eat meat trying not to think about it cause is sad...i'm surprised about this slaughterhouses...they don't have a clue about how to sacrify an animal correctly...they kill this animal and they kind of enjoy it!!! Here i my country and many other countries slaughterhouses work tryin not to make the animnal suffer!!! they and us use mechanical procedures quick and painless...am not saing is ok to kill them BUT AT LEAST THEY DO IT RIGHT!!! no cruelty involved...also we lrft our cows free in extensive frams where they it fresh grass and live with no stress or fear...i want to say something else...MILK COWS OR WHEREVER YOU CALL THEM...THEY ARE NOT SLAUGHTERED! THEY JUST GAVE MILK THEIR ENTIRE LIFE! COWS WHO DON'T GIVE MILK THOUSE ARE SLAUGHTERED! TWO COMPLITELY DIFFRENT THINGS...YOUR MEAT IS SO BAD BECAUSE YOU MAKE THE ANIMAL TO SUFFER PERIOD...maybe that good because it easy for you to avoid meat...anyway if prefer vegetables

I just want to say thanks for opening my eyes. I have been a vegan for four wonderful years now. Keep the faith and keep telling the truth. I tell everyone I can about the wonderful work you guys do for animals and how the "food industry" and accomplices really work.

Good for you Amy!!! For me I found that going Veg was easy as far as food was concerned. I simply don't crave meat. What I found to be hard was the support from family friends coworkers. To be honest people were simply rude to me. With time I became more educated on the subject of vegetarianism and thus gained confidence. What I found is that if I could not appeal to someone based on animal cruelty I could in other areas your health the enviroment worker worker rights. I find that world hunger always strikes home with people. No one will tell you that you are stupid or selfish because you care about the 6 million children under the age of 5 that will die this year as a result of hunger. If people stopped eating animals world hunger wouldn't be the issue that it is. Amy you are doing great. Hold strong. People may ridicule you because they are afraid of doing what you are doing. They are afraid of facing what you are facing. They won't tell you that but that is it.

Hmmm that's pretty gross and "inhumane". Maybe humans should just tear at animals like I do. I chomp away while my dinner is painful torn apart limb by limb while still breathing. Yeah that's the natural way to eat animals. My favorite thing to eat is PETA people their flesh is so yummy thanks to their vegan diets. I love meat but people who uneccessarily abuse animals are sad. On the bright side I heard they're inventing a meat tree that bears grapefruit sized meat sacks. Mmmmm meatfruit!
