Easy and Effective New Ways to Speak Out Against PetSmartAs you might know, PetSmart has been assuring PETA and concerned customers for years that sick and injured animals in its stores are provided with veterinary care when they need it. However, during PETA's undercover investigation at a PetSmart store in Manchester, Connecticut, we documented that more than 100 small animals were deprived of adequate veterinary care and slowly died. Watch behind-the-scenes footage One way that activists are making a statement against PetSmart's cruelty is by sending PETA pictures of themselves and their companion animals with signs that read, "We Won't Shop at PetSmart." The pictures are being uploaded to PETA's Flickr page. Check out the sample below, and download a PDF copy of our sign! If you happen to have a PetSmart PetPerks card, you can also make a statement by cutting up your card to show PetSmart that you will not spend a penny at its stores until it stops selling animals. Get creative with your "cuts," and send us a photo or a video that we can upload to our Flickr page! Check out the video on our blog for inspiration. Any action that you take against PetSmart will make a difference for animals. We're happy to help you brainstorm other ways to get active for animals, and please let us know if you're interested in leafleting or holding a demonstration. Be sure to visit PetSmartCruelty.com for campaign updates and for other ways to get active for animals, including posting our undercover video on your MySpace page or personal blog. And if you haven't already, please urge PetSmart to end all live-animal sales. |
