Louisiana Woman Allegedly Pummels Puppy With Hammer, Drives Over His Head—Now Faces 10 Years Behind BarsPlease respond immediately and forward as appropriate. Sharon Fowler, 38, of Winnsboro, Louisiana, reportedly faces felony charges stemming from her alleged ultimately fatal 2003 attack on her neighbor's puppy in Ouachita Parish. According to news sources, the defendant is accused of repeatedly bludgeoning the animal with a hammer after he purportedly scratched her then 5-year-old son. Fowler then allegedly tethered the dog to her vehicle and ran over his head with the car. The dog was apparently later euthanized in light of his injuries. Fowler's case is scheduled to finally go to trial on May 15. The office of the Honorable Jerry Jones, 4th Judicial District Attorney, will prosecute Fowler. Please respectfully remind him that whatever anger-management or sadistic roots may be behind a vicious attack on an animal could well give rise to similarly violent crimes against children or other humans. Kindly ask that Jones, if Fowler is convicted, work with the court to incarcerate her (she would thus face 10 years behind bars), order her to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and subsequent counseling at her own expense, and bar her from any future contact with animals. Our campaign will suffer if correspondence is impolite. The Honorable Jerry J. Jones dp8231 |
