Name: Virginia Fort
Position: Senior campaigner
Where do you work? PETA’s L.A. office, the Bob Barker Building
Do you have companion animals? I have two cats: 4-year-old Atlas (aka Catlas) and 6-month-old Beverley (aka BeeBee)
What’s the best part about your job? I really like talking to the media, talking to strangers on the streets, being outside, and brainstorming new demonstration ideas and making them happen.
What’s the hardest part about your job? Traveling and being away from my feline family!
Best memory at PETA: There have been so many! I had a woman turn away from the ticket office when she was on her way to buy Ringling Bros. tickets. She told me that she never knew what happened behind the scenes at Ringling and thanked me for giving her the information! Another time I met Pamela Anderson when she mailed petition signatures to Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking him to end the Canadian seal slaughter. And of course, I enjoyed going to Russia to protest the Canadian seal slaughter, as Russia had been the largest buyer of Canadian seal pelts and had just ended its own seal slaughter at the time.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office? Every day after work, I love to just veg out on the couch with my kittens to watch the Nightly News With Brian Williams.
