Thanks to PETA's efforts, a Washington state hoarder was arrested on suspicion of first-degree cruelty to animals after police removed 30 animals from her property, including a goat whose head she had held up to the tailpipe of a running car in an attempt to euthanize him after he was attacked by one of her dogs.

Thanks to PETA's efforts, two North Carolina men were charged with felony dogfighting after police found a blood-covered chain and two dogs with puncture wounds.

2003 - Virginia Man Charged With Cruelty for Crippling Dog
A Virginia man picked up a dog from the road and then threw her to the ground, crippling her. The dog was reportedly unable to walk and had to be carried by the abuser. A whistleblower contacted local police and then called PETA for assistance when she was told that the investigating officer would be off for the next three days, during which time no one would know about the dog's fate. We contacted the police and insisted that they send someone out. The dog was taken to the vet for treatment for a broken leg, and the owner was charged with cruelty to animals.
