A PETA member was in a Blain Supply store in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, shopping when she heard a bird trapped in the wall beating her wings frantically in an attempt to escape. She notified a sales associate, who told her that birds often become trapped behind the store walls and that typically the store managers wait for the birds to die and then remove the dead bodies.
When the store management ignored the woman's suggestions of humane alternatives, she called PETA. We sent a letter to the president of Blain Supply, Inc., asking that measures be taken to ensure that birds do not become trapped and die at the Sturtevant store.
A few days later, the regional manager for Blains Supply called and sent a letter assuring us that the hole that the birds had used to enter the store had been sealed and that birds would no longer be trapped in the walls.
