Position Objective:
To complete project requests from other departments, write articles and letters about animal rights for both in-house and external publications, and assist with mail responses
Term of Employment:
Full-time
Reports to:
Manager of Writers Group
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create content that is uniquely designed for specific projects and campaigns
- Formulate and produce unique projects, campaigns, and slogans
- Write letters to the editor and op-ed pieces about animal rights issues
- Write articles and copy for in-house publications, as required
- Prepare news releases when required
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Previous exceptional writing experience, which may include writing for newspapers, magazines, or other publications
- Previous Web writing experience
- Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
- Diplomacy, friendliness, and patience
- Ability to take initiative and follow through
- Ability to make sound judgments and work independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
- Ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
- Commitment to the objectives of the organization
