Assistant to the Director of Special Gifts

Position Objective:

To provide clerical support and other assistance to the director of special gifts in order to enhance the cultivation and solicitation of major donors

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Director of Special Gifts

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Identify important information to share with donors from both external and internal sources, including PETA staff reports, news clips, PETA Web sites, etc.
  • Research background information on donors and prospective donors 
  • Generate donor correspondence and other correspondence, as requested
  • Produce specialized reports detailing individual giving histories and trends as well as other reports to assist in the development of solicitation strategies for donors
  • Process information and merchandise requests for specific donors
  • Verify and input donor data into the donor database, including demographic, donation, membership, and personal information
  • Assist with the preparation and proofreading of mailings
  • Process expense reimbursement requests and other financial forms
  • Schedule donor meetings and appointments
  • Provide additional assistance for special projects and events, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in an office environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good proofreading skills
  • Experience with the Windows operating system, Word, and Excel required
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to articulate PETA’s objectives and represent the organization to others
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
