Campaign Coordinator for Australia (PETA Asia-Pacific)

Position Objectives:

To be a clever, trustworthy and highly organised Jack or Jill of all trades and to manage and coordinate volunteers, members, celebrities and the media to bring attention to animal rights issues across the country. This position is based in Sydney or Manila.

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Director of PETA Asia-Pacific

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and manage cutting-edge campaigns against animal abuse
  • Manage an agenda of celebrity events, protests and other campaign issues
  • Organise and maintain the media and celebrity databases
  • Coordinate the production and maintenance of the campaigns website for PETA Asia-Pacific
  • Work with volunteers
  • Review news releases
  • Work with others to create ad campaigns and other materials
  • Develop ideas to increase activist and celebrity involvement in animal issues
  • Contribute to and oversee the writing and production of printed materials
  • Organise demonstrations and assist with photo shoots, as needed
  • Conduct media interviews and direct media calls to the appropriate staff members
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks
  • Travel for meetings, events or other activities, as needed
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the director

Qualifications:

  • Interest in helping abate cruelty to animals
  • Must be trustworthy and reliable
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with the public and co-workers in a team environment or individually
  • Outgoing and personable manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be patient under fire
  • Proven thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA Asia-Pacific's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA Asia-Pacific's positions
  • Must adhere to a vegetarian lifestyle
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as needed
  • Computer proficiency
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
