How does a charity get included on the cruelty-free list?
Charities that are listed have signed the Statement of Assurance put forth by PETA and the Council on Humane Giving certifying that neither they nor their affiliated organizations conduct or fund any experiments on animals and will not do so in the future.
The Council on Humane Giving is composed of nine animal protection organizations including PETA and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). The council was formed to help humane health charities publicize their policy of supporting only research that does not involve animals and to help donors easily identify such charities by using the newly developed Humane Charity Seal of Approval.
